According to TMZ, multi-platinum rap group Cypress Hill is being sued for a whopping $29 million.

The LA rap group is being sued by Syl Johnson, a singer, who claims that the group used his beat for their song “Lock Down” without any permission.

The beat is allegedly from Johnson’s 1969 album, Is It Because I’m Black.

“Lock Down (Interlude)” was released in 1993 on Cypress Hill’s critically acclaimed sophomore album, Black Sunday.

In the past, Syl Johnson has sued a number of artists, including KRS-One, Michael Jackson and even the late Tupac Shakur for not paying him any royalties for sampling his 1967 single “Different Strokes.”
