Man, tech hardware is such a weird thing and these gaming console are no different. The Series X is supposed to be a good bit more powerful than the PS5 yet the PS5 variants of many games are running better than the X, according to Digital Foundry and a few other sources. Some attributing it to Sony having the dev kit available for over a year for developers while the X was more like 6-9 months. I guess that's all important but it's made worse by the fact that all three consoles stumbled out of the gates from their release dates and it just keeps getting worse in one way or another. Either supply issues or game-breaking glitches (Cold War shutting down machines), or hardware issues (PS5 fan/coil whine, Xbox de-syncing of controllers). Someone said repeatedly over the past month or two that Sony and MS should have waited until next year to release the consoles. Supply seems low and is exacerbated by scalpers that are hoarding units and then the release seems rushed too with many QC issues than were expected (I'm assuming).
Top it off with pretty much a handful of exclusives between both systems and it doesn't feel worth it to spend $300, $400, or $500 on a console that's just going to play enhanced versions of last-gen's games.
Also, I finally beat DMC5. Fun game but I still feel like I did something wrong as the game wasn't as challenging as DMC4. And 4 wasn't all that challenging either. I played on Human mode, which I know is meant to be not-hard, but this felt like a step below that. I'm not complaining since I enjoyed the game a ton more not getting stuck with puzzles or boss fights but I still find it peculiar I made it through so fast. There were a few missions that were definitely short, like 15 minutes short. And there's only 20 missions total.
Now Casey and masta have been mentioning Yakuza for quite some time now and I'm debating giving it a shot as my next game. I'd have to figure out which one to start with since Casey said that the PC versions weren't completely there and some were missing that could take away from the story.
The other game I'm looking at is The Outer Worlds. That looks interesting but it's rather new and I worry about performance on the RX 580 in Boot Camp on an i7 7700HQ.
I thought about Fallout 4 (I heard FO3 was not optimzed for Win 10 and people had to jump through hoops to get it to work) since it's like $8, or $20 for the GOTY edition. But I'm also thinking about getting a more casual game, that's more pick up and play. i'm avoiding spending on games that are on Gamepass in case I do end up getting GPU in the future. If Square announced a date for the FF7 Remake coming to PC, I might look in to that.
