Getting this right now. I expect nothing but good things, even if "Speed of Sound" was nothing new.

Coldplay > U2, btw

Yeah i'll get it the next time i go on my CD shopping spree.

And i agree with coldplay being better than U2. Personally i feel like U2 is over rated and they had a great history and some great songs, but overall compared to so many artists, they weren't THAT great. Still better than guns n roses by miles

Coldplay better than U2? Sorry, don't agree. I like Scientist, Yellow, clocks etc. But U2 made so much more music. Can't really compare them. U2 is soooo much bigger. I'm not a big U2-fan, but 2 be honest, I think they're much better. Coldplay made just 2 great cd's. U2 got so much more history. Never heard Coldplay made songs like Sunday.., With or without you, Kite, Where the streets, All I want is u, etc. U2 made so much great songs, I respect Coldplay, but that ain't even competition 4 U2.

ive been waiting for this for a while now.. ive heard a few tracks on it and luckily they havent lost anything from their old albums..

U2 are on a different level to coldplay.. i dont see how they can realy be compared.. if its personal choice then ok, but as far as success and fan base.. i think U2 win by a mile

I havent listened to 'X&Y' yet.... looking forward to it though. I loved 'A Rush of Blood to the Head.' I think you can preview it on their website, maybe I'll do that.

Very nice album. I don't think I like it as much as A Rush Of Blood To The Head but this is definately a very solid effort.

Double thumbs up to Coldplay for keeping their sound. I hate the American rock sound.

It definitely isn't as good as the last album. They definitely tried to make it really epic and cohesive, and they did that... but they did it in such a way that it all sounds a bit samey. It's like "Clocks: Uncut", but cornier. It's still really good and I like it a lot, though.

Another nice thing about this album, no one will ever try to compare them to Radiohead without sounding like an idiot (coughNewYorkTimescough) again.

I've maybe liked ONE Coldplay song total, "Shiver" I think it's called, but they're too sensitive, kind of the polar opposite of Radiohead (was that a comparison, :) ).

That being said, U2 is the type of "muzak" that I'll bet the guys at Enron liked to listen to. Talk about corporate rock, every time I see a review for their records (epitome of Rock, Record of the Year, etc.) it makes me wonder if these critics can even define ROCK music. Bono is hilarious ("I'm not your God, don't worship me,"), Ledge gets by with playing a note here and there, and their rhythm section doesn't seem to know what a rhythm section is supposed to sound like. It's just my opinion, but U2 is true rock like Huey Lewis and the News is hard rock, or Usher is true R&B. Ughhhh!!!

Naw, the only difference is that Radiohead are more abstract and their music can a lot more dissonant. Thom Yorke can be just as much of a bitch as Chris Martin, he's just better at it.

As for U2... they have some great records, but their last few are terrible. A bunch of crappy songs, and then Bono's saving-the-world shit... it makes me nauseous. I'm convinced that the only people who are actively fans of U2 anymore are lame advertising folks and other media people. U2 today is strictly for those guys, and I'm sure they listen to the newrecords for the same reason people sometimes masturbate with the other hand.

LOL @ that site, I really had a good laugh.....
You're sooo wrong about U2 fans. I know a lot of U2-fans and I can guarantee you're wrong here. I'm not a fan myself and also bored with Bono saving the world. But that ain't about their music. They got a couple of greate songs.
Btw, ATYCLB wasn't a bad record, Kite, Walk on and In a little while are certainly good songs. Kite is one of my favourite songs, fantastic track. Pop was a shitty cd and HTDAAB isn't their best record although it got some good songs like miracle drug, City of blinding lights. Vertigo is commercial shit, but sounds good. All because of you and Yaweh are really bad songs, agreed. But I think with callin all 11 songs rubbish you're wrong.
