I never said any of that stuff. Trust me, I want to quit, and I will eventually. My point was that just because you smoke doesn't mean you're gonna die before 35, like 2PacThug4Life said. And what is it about smoking? its addictive! thats what it is

Devious187 said:Hahahaha, dead before 35? are you seriously kidding me? There's been people who smoke all their lives and die of natural causes, not cancer, and they lived way past 35. Hell my dad started smoking when he was 12. He's 68 now, still smokes and rides his bike to work every day. He is in very good health. And second hand smoke is supposedly worse for you. so you're probably gonna die sooner than us smokers lol. Plus you could walk outside tomorrow and get killed, what makes you so sure you gonna live to be old?

I only ever really smoke when I go out. I enjoy smoking because it calms me down but I don't like smelling bad, but when you're in bars you're gonna smell like cigarette smoke anyway, so I figure I might as well smoke when I'm there. Even though I have tried (lol) I never really developed the habit of smoking so I guess that's a good thing.
Also, my boyfriend doesn't like it when I smoke so that's another reason for me not to do it.

Of course smoking has negative effects on your health. I don't think anyone is trying to deny that. And if you quit your health will steadily improve. I only brought up my Dad to prove a point. I know he is an exception, hes been extremely lucky. There is no evidence second hand smoke causes damage to you? Try telling that to the non smokers who lived and worked with people who smoked and ended up with lung cancer. There is plenty of evidence. If breathing in pollution into your lungs is bad for your health, than how can breathing in someone else's smoke not affect your health as well?Pittsey said:It's proven that smoking has negative effects on your health. It's also obvious when I compare the health and fitness of my non-smoking friends to my friends who smoke. It is also obvious when I see people who have given up and the improvement in their health and fitness.
It isn't just about living longer, it's about having a better quality of life. There are always exceptions to the rule, and your dad is lucky. Most people aren't so lucky especially those who died of lung cancer. A very painful way to die, with a very painful treatment. And there is no evidence that second hand smoke causes any damage to you. It's a hard 1 to judge.
At the end of the day I couldn't care what any of you do. You can shoot smack in your veins for all I care. I choose not to smoke and to laugh at your coughs and wheezes.

I know, when you think about it, you're essentially paying someone to kill you slowly, and that alone is reason to quit. I (hopefully) plan on quitting by the end of this year. I just felt I had to say something in response to 2PacThug4Life's comment that if you smoke you'll die before 35, which is obviously untrue.
