Rukas said:Music is against Islam? You have to be kidding me? So you can only listen to religious music? What propoganda! Sorry, but no wonder so many extreme Muslims have such a warped sense of perception of the world if they are only allowed to watch Muslim movies, listen to Muslim music, read Muslim texts.

Islam allows oral sex, hand jobs, titty fucks, anything and everything, but anal sex? Seems weird to me, and slightly homophobic. The STD debate is irrational, if STDs are the only worry, does that mean anal sex with a condom is allowed? Not to mention the fact that STDs are transfered through vaginal sex as well, so that argument is silly.
For the record, I object to this thread making it seem like Im that concerned with anal sex, Im not, and have never done it. We went down the list of what was allowed and what wasnt and you couldnt answer (at first) if it was allowed and why not. Like I said, you informed me that oral sex is allowed (my first question), any form of touching any region sexually apart from the anal area.
At the end of the day I was curious, its not like I was asking permission or really care what Islam says I am allowed to do or am not allowed to do, Im not Muslim, and Catholicism gives me enough guilt trips as it is.

Back to the Music, hmmm, it's the content that music encompasses especially in the west that makes it makrooh (extremely disliked). Some would argue it's not prohibited, others would argue against that.
There is a lot of music in the Arab world. Saying that not listening to music is what produces extremist is a very blind judgment. Is music really a necessity in life? Are movies really that important?
Although, I'm not a very devout Muslim, I try; I still can see what's right and what's wrong.
Jurhum said:^ Actually, well, if Ipod is used for Music then it's prohibited. However, if the Nano is used to listen to religious audio, then it's permissible.

If Islam has the answer for "every thing in life" then surely it should have a clear answer for this?Jurhum said:^ You are right. It's a complex issue. However, it is left to the user him, or herself to decide what's is according to Islam what is not.
So simple, enjoyable music isn't allowed because it doesn't have a beneficial message behind it? I enjoy listening to music, isn't that benefit enough?Songs that have no beneficial meanings are worthless.
Don't try and make out that all western music is violent, degrading, misogynistic garbage to justify what certainly seems like an absurd stance for a religion to take. While in other songs every other word is an obscene word. Do you think it’s good for society as a whole?
Do you know how many songs out there are degrading women? Explicitly, other songs only talk about sex, refereeing to females as, "hoes," "bitches," and other derogatory terms? Do you even accept that when you listen to such songs?
Jurhum said:^Then, just replace that with the Muslim world.
It does.Illuminattile said:If Islam has the answer for "every thing in life" then surely it should have a clear answer for this?

Chronic said:Yeah I know. I was just kind of wondering if there was a reason why you said 'Arab' instead of 'Muslim', since the largest part of Muslims isn't Arab.
Either it has a clear answer or "it is left to the user him, or herself to decide". Which is it? I've looked up the issue of music on several Muslim sites and they all seem to have come up with different ways to justify the anti-music stance.Jurhum said:It does.
I feel sorry for you, then.Honestly, I found no benifit whatsoever. All I gained was how to be ganster, thugged-out, and curse a lot.

saying you cant use ipods to store music is silly. Every song has to be judged on it's own content, thus creating a huge "gray area" of shadiness and dimness and many other shadowy words, over which you could debate for years. Which song is wrong, which isn't?
lol, I'm sure you are fine. I just meant that...I take great benefit from music. Not really hip-hop, but music in general. Seems very strange to me that Islam would take an anti-music stance. It's not like back when Islam was founded there were a bunch of people rapping about gangsta bitches and poppin' caps.Jurhum said:Don't be sorry for me. I am fine.
Makes me feel warm and fuzzy.Helena said:^How exactly does music benefit you?
