well i agree more money should be used to help not just the black communities but every community in need, and that would be a much better use of the money than paying reparations to the families themselves. but this should be done regardless of whether anyone is owed reparations or not, so it's kinda pointless to argue that as an option or an alternative to reparations.

I say no, who cares. Giving money to families (especially potentially ghetto families) without some kind of re education into society program is pointless. The money would be wasted as no one has taught them to save, invest, etc.

A public apology issued on behalf of the US government, not to each individual black american, but just the US government stating their involvement in slavery and how wrong it was would be nice and sufficient I think.

Actually, as far as governments are concerned, the US government is least likely to blame. When the country became independant slavery wasl already well established.

There's not one government, country, family, man whatever, responsible for slavery. It was the entire world at that time, aggrevated by the money making Western elite.
