The only thing i don't like about the Galaxy S is that the front facing camera is only vga and not 1.3 like the Evo.

I laugh more at those iPhone 4 people collectively jizzing their pants at their front-facing camera that can only be used on Wifi.

The Android phones with front-facing cameras can be used anywhere, on 3G.

Other than the EVO 4G, what other phone has a forward-facing camera? Especially in the EVO's case, it's $10 more for 4G, and is mandatory, and then I think you pay $5 a month more for video chat.

While being restricted to WiFi sucks, I would much rather not pay a cent more than I already do for amenities.

I guess if I make my own money, I won't be so miserly (ironically) but since my parents pay for all of us, I tend to just chill out and pirate the apps and all and not pay for extra services free apps take care of.
 
^I guess most people don't use secondary camera because most people don't use video calling at all. Most old school 3g phones had these front facing cameras but only a few Android phones have that too. Only the Evo, Dell Streak, Galaxy S and Galaxy S pro have it from what I can remember.

And about VGA resolution I think it's enough for a video chat. At least if the framerate is okay. A higher resolution with a reasonable frame rate would steal bandwidth like crazy and I guess that's why Iphone 4 restricts their video calls to Wifi.

WORD! and it's not just from one iphone to another iphone. I can 3g camera talk you to your laptop if i'd like, chump ass Apple

Spica is said to be getting the official 2.2 upgrade too. They're testing it right now. Samsung's been really great if it comes to their phone support lately.
 
That samsung is epic, but this might be a silly question - what was the reasoning behind not putting an LED or Xenon flash to the Samsung Galaxy S? I don't care about the camera for the most part unless there's like some kind of emergency, but this phone is a beast, why keep out something simple like a flash?

my question is how is battery life, my Moment is horrible and I use a task killer, I have tried everything including running it until dead 3 times and nothing has improved it. Also the GPS sucks on the Moment, never finds me and I lose it all the time while driving...any ideas on that?

Yeah it also made me wonder. Maybe everything is so tightly packed that xenon flash would make the phone bulkier and they tried to make it as slim as possible. After all except of the flash device itself it needs its own "battery" and a few chips and they do take some space.

Almost 4 days with moderate use. Seems pretty good for a 4inch screen and a 1 ghz processor. Seems even better than my Spica which I have to charge every 2-3 days now since I use it a lot.
 
Wait, 4 days on a Galaxy S? My Eris has never done better than 1.5 days with no more than 10 minutes on calls and some texting. I don't see how people get ridiculous amounts of battery life from their smart phones. Even iPhone users are worse off than I am, some saying they have to charge it twice a day.
 
yeah Iphones offer shitty battery life. Some Android phones unfortunately too and Eris had very bad reviews if it comes to battery life. Only G1 had worse ones.
I do get a nice battery life as most other people with the same phone. To be fair though HTC usually offered below average battery life while some Motorola phones suck big time as far as battery goes. Also older phones offer shorter battery life because they use higher voltage cpus and LCD displays.
Actually I always read reviews on battery life before buying a new phone as I find that important.

New Samsungs offer very nice battery life though but they also use higher capacity batteries. Most new Samsungs have 1500mAh ones. Now if you think that Galaxy S offers a decent battery for a smartphone check out Samsung Wave ;) It handles almost 9 hours of HD video playback with 50% brightness.
A friend of mine has it and charges it every week. It's a pretty nice phone actually hardware-wise. Too bad Bada OS sucks balls. It doesn't even feel like a smartphone.
