Early this morning a writer from TechCrunch made a claim that before he went to bed last night, he put his phone on the charger. Before he put it down he noticed that he had a notification for an update. So he installed the update and what do you know, he had 2.2. Most of us around the web did not think this was real, no one else had it and screen shots didn’t look to good. But, people in various parts started to receive this update and it’s pretty much confirmed. Froyo is being pushed out to the Nexus One right now.
Things like this is what makes the Ne us One a great device to have. Those of us with a Nexus will receive the update straight from Google. It could be 4 or more months before other devices receive this update and by then our beloved Nexus Ones will likely be on “Gingerbread”.
We’re all anxiously awaiting the arrival of the OTA to our own devices. People have been unrooting all morning in an effort to get a hold of this tasty treat. Engadget has also confirmed this OTA, they have it on their device right now. Looks like the guy from TechCrunch really is a very lucky guy, he’s probably the first person in the world to get Android 2.2.
With all the excitement we’ve had today with the release of Froyo, the Droid 2 almost slipped by us. This will be a MotoBlur device, but this isn’t the MotoBlur we are all used too. It appears that it has undergone a complete overhaul and looks totally different than before. Whenever this does hit the streets let’s keep our fingers crossed for Android 2.2 to be preinstalled on this next great Android beast.

HTC’s EVO 4G smartphone has been rooted – before the handset is even in Sprint stores. A couple of keen Android developers – one of whom was given an EVO 4G as part of Google IO last week – have put their heads together and cracked open the WiMAX handset in record time.
In fact it took the three of them just a few hours to gain access to the open-source device’s low level functionality. Unfortunately they’re not sharing details of the exploit as yet, but we imagine that once the EVO 4G is generally available it won’t be long before we start seeing hacks and modifications.
I'm probably going to get an HTC Desire when my contract's up (or when 3 stop being cunts and offer me the tariff I want). Will it come with the new version of Android, or will I be able to upgrade it?
any luck yet? you might have to restore to the last back up you made and then try again, otherwise just flash a previous rom back on again.
