Technology Android

just met one of my friends and she says she had an iphone and thinks its was shit and it kept freezing on her and couldnt go back because the touchscreen was rubbish on hers.

shes got the SE w995 now.

yeah many of my friends gave up on Iphones because they were literally freezing all the time.
However some people still use them even if they don't work properly and still say that they are cool. One of those "Iphone fanboys" who studied with me and said how awesome and best Iphones are gave me his because I had to text someone and I had to give it to him 2 times to "unfreeze" it for me. 2 times during a single task of writing one short text message. And yeah it was the first Iphone.

Samsung Galaxy Lite:

If they keep a low price on these, which is obviously the aim compared to the regular Samsung Galaxy - I think they'll have a winner on their hands with a lot of the teenage market. Digging the lil Android logos on the front and back, and the spec is more than reasonable.

Samsung also have a QWERTY slider phone running Android coming out called the InstinctQ:

bang bang! another dope looking Android tablet recieves it's debut in France made by a company called eviGroup. This shit looks mad cool. Anyone still doubting the sheer dominance of Android?

5-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen,
8GB of internal memory,
miniSD card slot
integrated digital camera/camcorder
built-in WiFi, GPS and 3G.

Don't have more detailed spec yet but this is said to launch early next year for around £200.

great stuff. cant wait until all of these android devices are released. so far we've just got announcements of the phones and their estimated release dates.

Vodafone UK launching the HTC Tattoo in 2 weeks.

oooh 2 weeks. i can sense it.

the resistive touchscreen on this one should result in a low RRP. this one has similar specs to the G1.

this looks similar to the galaxy but its the brands i.e. samsung and htc which will cause the phone features to differentiate.

p.s. in regard to the android logos, im liking the one on the tatoo too.

looking at the picture of the phone it looks like the phone isnt glossy and has a rubbery-plastic-like texture that will help prevent marks and scratches on the surface.

lmao this will be more expensive than the G1 here. Prices on mobile phones here are crazy - every new device is expensive.
I was looking forward to this but now I'd definately rather get a G1.

Really? That's bizarre since it is being marketed as an "entry-level" phone. It has a much smaller, lower res screen that is resisitive and not capacitive.

What are the main carriers in Poland? I'm sure their must be some upcoming Android phones there. Do you get a lot of Motorola products usually?

If so, you might be better off waiting for the Motorola Sholes which is gonna launch in a couple of months. That thing is gonna be a beast. Or seeing if there's any chance of the XPERIA X3 becoming available.

Smartphones are not really that much popular since they are expensive. For example an Iphone or G1 on a 24month contract are almost as expensive as from a shop without any contract (to make it more graphic a G1 costs 2/3 of an average monthly salary). Basically you don't get them much cheaper even if you're on an expensive plan.
I'm on Orange (however their offer is nowhere close to what they offer in England), there are 3 other major Polish carriers with similar prices.
G1 is probably a bit cheaper than Tattoo because it's older and like I said anything new is expensive here.

Phones are expensive everywhere in eastern/central europe. Shit, most people here don't even have cell phone plans and even if they do, the phone companies don't have contracts with cell-phone makers where they will give you a phone for cheap if you sign a 2-year contract and such. If you want a good new phone, you gotta shell out upwards of 300 euros. People couldn't believe my G1 (a phone they can't even find here) was $180.

Last time i checked, Germany had the most expensive costs when it comes to cell phone contracts. Thats why i dont really use my cell phone for calling people. Mostly sms.

I think we really get the best deal here in the UK.

My G1 was free I got it around 6 weeks after it had launched. 18-month contract, £35 a month and I don't come anywhere close to using all of my minutes even when I use it a lot.

My cousin got his HTC Hero for something like £25 a month with unlimited data, 18 month contract, because he's been a loyal customer with that network for a decade or so.

yeah I took some time to browse offers in the UK and they are awesome.
I mean we have rather cheap phone calls and texts but only in pre-paids (there's a huge pre-paid price race here). It seems that it works the other way around in the UK.
If you're on contract for ~30 pounds/month basically everything seems to be almost free.

Here the shortest contract is 24 months, the longest being 48 months.
I'm on a 36 month contract where I got a low-end Samsung J700 for free (and it was the best free phone there at that time) - I gave it to my mom and bought myself a phone online.

£25 a month for the hero is a BARGAIN. i was thinking of staying on the same network for a long time as well as a colleague at work was saying how the loyalty bonuses work when he used to work at orange. there's different levels, not sure how long each level lasts for. maybe one level per contract or per annum.

First device-on shots of the Motorola Sholes aka Motorola Tao appears.

That looks sexy as fuck.

The more I hear about it, the more I'm convinced that this will be the device to supercede my G1 when my contract is up. This will be the first device to ship with Android 2.0, add awesome spec, nice big hi-res screen and full physical keyboard, as well as Moto's custom "MotoBlur" additions to Android, and we have a winner.

^that bad boy looks hot. contract up in 1 year. if it makes it to canada by then, might be my next cell phone.
