Anyone get the Facebook Android Beta invite? I feel like it's old, but I just got it...

Wait wait, design the phone yourself? If it is anything like those sites overseas where you choose your components and how the phone looks Moto is in for a mother fucking win. that'd be so god damn cool to see on huge scale

lol truth

But on those sites you'd choose your chassis, materials and then choose from like 2 or 3 designs that were real bland, basically boxes. But the best thing was you got to choose your components. like camera lens and sensor, what chip you want to run etc, that was the real cool part. If google does that with moto they will win my loyalty for life, then can nsa me all day

I don't care about the color unless it's pink or any other weird variation of red. I don't care about the material. They'd totally be winning if they allowed for internal customization. I'd actually pay MORE for a similarly specced phone if I could actually pick the components I need and those I don't by myself. I guess it's too complicated for an average person and they're not likely to do it, especially considering that it's aimed at the US market (no offense).

Fuck you.

Looks like it's just going to be color of the phone and the fucking wallpaper lol. I guess it's a step towards something cool

Here's a prediction: I think the mobile CPU race is going to slow down soon. We have quad core CPUs clocked high already and relatively efficient architectures with new Krait cores and A15 (as far as performance goes). They probably won't add more cores now, they're not going to clock CPUs much higher so 2 out of 3 ways of making CPUs faster are almost depleted. The only way they'll be able to boost performance is by improving architecture design. Sure, the mobile architectures aren't as mature so there's more room for improvements, but still I suppose that soon it's going to be like in the PC market - we're going to see jumps of 25-40% a year for highest end models, and smaller ones of ~25% for average models.
I think this year was the last one of such huge performance jumps with 4 Krait cores running at ~2ghz. Sure, we can see new arm architectures running at ~2ghz and they'll be significantly faster, but still it will be a smaller jump compared to all previous ones, even though it's the biggest one that's to come soon.

HTC One and Galaxy S4 Google Editions began shipping today, I believe.

The S4 built quality is pretty good, but something broke my heart today. A tiny, tiny part of paint on the silver trim kinda chipped off :-( I have to look for it to see it, but still heartbreaking on a new, high end device.

That's a little too much for my liking. It looks like a Frankenstein phone and it still looks like a camera-first phone.

I think the pictures my S3 takes are good enough for me. With some editing, I get it to be what I want it to look like.

Here's a set I took at the Auto Show, untouched. http://flic.kr/s/aHsjGBTfDd

These aren't all of them and I fucked up by having a filter set when the phone was in my pocket to give it that blue hue. Fixed it, but not after taking a dozen pictures or so with it on.

Zoom is not a good camera. If you want a good camera AND phone buy the Nokia 1020. It's the shit, as far as camera is concerned and it's actually pocketable. That's Nokia's best tech that they have.

The camera part of the phone isn't high on my list. As long as it takes some photos, I am happy. I use my DSLR when I want to capture something, although it's getting on a bit now.

So, um... I just found out that flashing a custom ROM, like CM, usually decreases the quality of your pictures because Samsung does not release the camera drivers or something to AOSP.

Thinking about going to stock root because of this. But...TouchWiz.... :(
