Why was the Galaxy Nexus released not-in-the-US first?
 
I don't think so. I feel it's more RIM and iPhone oriented.

Canada is the same. Canada and BlackBerry predominate. I overheard someone with a BlackBerry (from Canada) say that they were going for an iPhone next after this.

I wouldn't use HP laptops too. Which doesn't change the fact that Asus laptops are better and sell better. But I can see how they are less popular in America since computer market there is still very different, but anyway their quality is better too:
