Technology Android

I don't have it with me, it's back with my parents and sister. I'm pretty sure my sister uses it all the time, even if it is just to play Angry Birds, which she can do on her iPod Touch, or browse Facebook which she can also do on her iPod.

I think when I go home, I'll educate her on downloading and transferring media (namely movies) so that she can stock up on those and use the wider screen of the tablet to enjoy them, as opposed to viewing them on her iPod.

Things can change, though. I don't really need a tablet here, but if it's gathering dust at home, I may just bring it back with me and install Android on it. But I'm not installing Gingerbread, like the latest CM Alphas are. I'd much rather have Honeycomb. Any version of Honeycomb over GB.

honeycomb is not publicly available. if you want anything like HC, you'll be waiting some time until ICS is available for it.

One of my cousins who has always had an iPhone just sent me a message on Skype to tell me he's giving his iPhone 4 to his wife and going to get a Galaxy Nexus :D

I saw a massive billboard for the Galaxy Nexus in the city centre yesterday. I don't remember seeing any public advertising for the Nexus S and there definitely was not anyone for the Nexus One. Google put some advertising text on their main page in the UK for it also. Good to see a big push being made for it, it's without a doubt the hottest ticket gadget wise for this holiday season.

looks like your cousin who bought a Galaxy Nexus is having the volume issue with ICS. I'll leave it to you to advise him - whether or not he should wait for an update, or return it.

I don't think that he is. Just didn't realize volume is subjective depending on current activity.

EDIT - Turns out he'd left the clear sticker on the back and it was covering up the speaker LOL

I'm using the ICS keyboard. Looks and works OK, but it keeps FCing. Uploader said there were no bugs and it ran smoothly. Antiquated hardware, probably.

I'm waiting for Transformer Prime's first reviews. I'm curious about battery life since it packs a slightly smaller battery and a more powerful platform. They claim that Tegra 3 is very energy-efficient but I'm curious about how it is in reality. I'm also curious to see new Samsung tablets running ICS, perhaps with Tegra 3. They should introduce some soon.

Yeah the Tegra 3 chip is supposed to be incredibly efficient. I look forward to seeing some reviews also, but they haven't announced a release yet have they?

I don't think so. You guys suggested it the other day and I looked it up and it appeared to have been pushed back to the Holidays. Which is very general, but also pretty close.

I am trying to bully vodafone into giving me a Galaxy Nexus for free, 6 months before my contract ends. We'll see how it goes.

Good luck. I think you'd have better luck in that regard in a month or two. It just launched AND it's the holiday season.

OK. ICS needs to make its way to the TouchPad. Now.
