Yeah, it's really great with Xperia Arc. I prefer it over Samsung's Touchwiz really a lot. Actually I'd rather use Sony's launcher than all launchers that I've used. It's simple, intuitive, functional and looks nice. I love Sony's simple additions like the handles for selecting text, the "number roll thing" and that they replace some generic Android apps with really better versions. There are these cool, small details that make it really great to use.
A huge leap forward after previous-gen Android launchers and bloat-ware that they used, which sucked.

2 things that bother me though:
- They should include a better gallery that doesn't display downsized photos though, but I still wonder why Google didn't fix it.
- Bloatware! I think that there's no other manufacturer that puts more bloatware on their phones. Okay, it's not bloatware per se because most of these apps are somewhat useful.. but I don't need them! And you need root to remove them.

I wouldn't go that far. It's defo better than TouchWiz, HTC Sense and MotoBlur..... but it's got nothing on Go Launcher EX.

I tried Go Launcher EX once and didn't really like it that much. Might give it a second try in the future though because everyone seem to love it.

Anyway they release a lot of decent apps. I use the Go sms app. Replaced Chomp and Handcent for me. Sometimes I use Go keyboard too, but I think I prefer the stock Gingerbread one. Go keyboard is the best that I've tried from the market though.

Reference to Swype, I agree with you and Pitts. I was so used to the keyboard on the Sidekick and my G1 that made me not want to upgrade to the Defy, I had to upgrade cos even though I had CM on my G1, I needed better hardware. But when I used Swype I was overly pleased. I wasn't expecting it, so to find it was so easy to use was a big relief. Still don't like my Defy all that much though lol.

Swype is okay for English text, doesn't work that well for Polish. Anyway just tapping the keys on a 4,3 inch screen is as comfortable (or even more imho) than a hardware keyboard mainly because the keys are bigger.

I wiped my HTC G2, removed the SIM, inserted it into my brand new SGS2. I booted up the SGS2 and started doing stuff.

It felt strange not having a keyboard.

For about 10 minutes. Then after that it was perfectly normal.

The key is using the "Swype" keyboard, where you drag a continuous line to each letter and it recognises the word. It's the fastest input method in the world, faster than a physical keyboard, and I could type FAST on a physical keyboard after having used them for 4 years on all my phones. It'll either come preinstalled on the phone, or you just register for the Swype beta on their site (from the phone) and you can download an installer.

A big screen + Swype keyboard = heaven. You won't have any problems. In fact I think the world record for fastest typed text message was beaten recently, and the new record holder did it using Swype.

I stayed away from touch-only phones for so long because jabbing each letter to type every word always felt lame as fuck to me. But Swype is just insanely good.

I disagree Swype is faster than keyboard. I constantly beat my girlfriend and she has a Galaxy 1. We race, keyboard vs Swype. I always win. Most of my friends have the Galaxy or G2 as well. I always beat them. We actually race quite often, especially for drinks LOL.

Still, I think Ill get the Nexus Prime. Im just after something simpler and with no moving parts.

Motorola Droid RAZR gets an early introduction ahead of tomorrow's launch

One thing we love about teasers: they oftentimes backfire, allowing the general public to see more of the product than the company intended. This is the story of the Motorola Spyder (aka Droid RAZR), its first teaser attempt spoiled when the phone's name was included on the image file. The second sneak peek is cleverly designed as an incomplete puzzle with the missing pieces added one-by-one as we get closer to the device's launch, but Motorola left a full image of the phone hiding in plain view. So what we see above is an uber-thin Verizon LTE device with kevlar backing and a Droid X-style hump on the top, a rear camera (presumably 8MP) with 1080p HD video capture, a front-facing cam, a standard set of four capacitive touch buttons and a redesigned Droid eye. We're still hoping to get a glimpse of the Xoom 2before the big event, but at least you can consider us sufficiently teased for now.

Yeah, you're right. I looked it up. My bad.

Regardless, it's still the fastest touch input I've ever used and close enough for me to not miss the qwerty.
