So there is a live action version of the film that is soon to go into production, the film will be split into two parts for the live action version. While I should be excited to see on of the greatest Anime films ever made be reincarnated into live action, with people like Leo DiCaprio as one of the producers, i'm unsure about it future.

What do you think?

leo is producing this?

man thats really interesting.

but he is not making any appearance though. maybe he is a major manga fan and would want the best for this project.

i still think a LIVE action version would just be Wrong. look what happend to fist of the north star and Crying freeman, they sucked.

I don't like animes turned in live. For example that Dragonball Live Action movie. It just looks wrong. I don't know. It feels wrong, looks wrong.

PS I have close to no knowledge in anime/manga.

Dragon Ball is all monsters, aliens and weird stuff though. Akira is more along the lines of Blade Runner, futuristic stuff.

Seems like they're making 2 movies. Sounds like good news, they don't have to condence it as much and they'll be able to focus more on the manga as well.

Only real fear I have is a western writer/director trying to adapt a Japanese product. The styles are so different and unless the people behind the movie are well-versed in Akira and other manga/anime it's bound to lose some of its essence.

But all in all I'm looking forward to it.

EDIT: If the movies are a success they might be good regardless of quality. In the same way that the Akira anime helped introduce manga/anime in Europe and America and created a legion of obsessive fans this movie may do the same on a larger scale.

does anyone know which City the LIVE ACTION version of Akira is based in?

i am really worried that it could be in US. it will diffenetly lose that cultural interest if they do it in america.
