DJ LV called the dude who was on that Millionair Fair and after a while, we got permission to come and look at the thing, providing it wasn't sold on that Fair.
It wasn't sold, so me and LV hooked up, took a train, took a bus, then walked for about 15 minutes before reaching our destination: the antiquarian bookshop. Friendly words were exchanged and then we got to see 'the' book.
Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures of the book, so I will have to give a textual explanation of what we saw. If someone could provide the scans that are available, I can integrate them in my story for a better understanding.
Front:
On the back of the front (so after you've opened it), was scribbled 90's N.I.G.G.A. and The Underground Railroad.
Page 1: A portrait sketch of his character from Juice:
Character work Bishop age 17
*page 4 -
The night before I was on the roof smoking herb and drinking whiskey with some of the older guys from uptown. I feel pain and hurt because my father is not and does not speak 2 me he just sits there in front of that damn T.V. My grandmother feed me 2 keep my mind & my mouth off my father & the rumors.
*page 7 -
concentration is on father
my eyes never leave him
*page 11 -
slowly walking from the thighs
very heavy chest stuck out. After
I hear Radames there's a lot of
Tension in my hands (clinched fists)
Page 2: 2 lines from 'Brain On A 40'
"BRAIN ON A 40"
all lyrics by 2PAC (Tupac Shakur)
The Battle will be bloody as a Kotex
Niggas stand recked wondering which ryme I'll throw next
Then a whole serie of blank pages and then something quite 'weird'. I say weird because it was not written in Tupacs handwriting.
Artist File:
Al Williams - Bass
Shoppy B - Guitarist + Background rapper (Background rapper was written by Tupac)
Lilly - Asian DJ Babe
Skip - Sax
Marion - Poet
Webby - Graphic Artist
Prince - Ransta Rapper
Then somewhere middle in the notebook: The OG tracklisting for 2Pacalypse Now.
Again, a whole series of blank pages.
Then one page with a small drawing, a devil-ish-like creature.
The page after that had a picture of a crying eye and the words Peace (with the peace symbol behind it)
Piece (with a gun drawn behind it)
Then, near the end of the book, a letter/essay from an unknown author. It appears to be the same handwriting as the Artist File. It was a bit unreadable, so I did not bother to write down the whole thing. Some keywords: Rhapsody Orchestra, Schmoovy Schmoov, Sex Packets, Digital Underground
Second to last page:
THANKS 2: GOD!
My mother & my father (rest n peace) my family & my manager. Thank u 2 all those who believed
Special thanks 2 Shock 4 letting me a part of his dream. I won't let u down partner!
Nuff respect 2: Eric B & Rakim, Chuck D & Public Enemy, BDP, Kane, KOOL G Rap, Main Source, E.P.M.D., Run D.M.C., Afros, Gangstarr, Shabba Ranks Paris, Queen Latifah (my sister), M.C. Lyte, Monie Love, Ms. Yo-Yo, ICE CUBE, The Lench MOB, EAZY E, N.W.A., D.O.C., Above the Law, LayLow, Kokane, Kilo, ICE T, LL COOL Jay, Digital Underground, Raw Fusion, Gold Money, Force 1 Network, Schmoovee Schmoove, Cara Lewis, Adrian, Tommy Boy, Interscope for having the balls 2 release me, X-Clan, Isis, D-Nice, Too Short, M.C. Hammer, 3 T's.
Last page:
Fuck you 2 every crooked, sloppy, doughnut eating oink oink cop that ever breathed from security guards 2 the F.B.I.!
Fuck you 2 the Klan (gay bastards)
Fuck every President that ever promised anything and extra fuck u 2 lying ass Lincoln.
Peace 2 Assata, Afeni, Mutulu, Sekyiwa, Wakili and the entire SHAKUR CLAN!
The Panthers (New Afrikan)
On the inside of the back cover:
A picture of a crying eye, with next to it written Tears of a Clown
A heart, cut in two, with one side saying Love and the other Hate
Written: pacalypse, with a 2 written through, almost as an autograph.
There were some other scribblings as well, but nothing too interesting.
It took a good 45 minutes to absorb it all and write some info down, after that we expressed our gratitude and were on our way again.
In conclusion: it was very interesting, there was less in it than the both of us had expected, but still very cool and well worth the journey
PS. I used a transcript provided to us by the antiquarian. I tried to edit out obvious mistakes, whilst trying to leave Pac's text intact, so it might look weird here and there.
PPS. Thanks to Dante for providing the scans.
