yes, same here. thats why i said its correct but when i searched for the answer i didnt see anything about 7 years (dog) = 1 human year...stupid people talking shit and im the dumbass for believing it

...it is an estimate anyway. There really isn't an exact ratio, they just took the average life of a dog and an average life of a human and figured 7:1 was good enough to tell your kids why fido was taken to a farm out in the country. All these calculators and fortune cookies are just bullshit.

oh yeah...looks like bank robber is a little bitter; can't imagine why. :-)

7 human years = 1 dog year is just a rule of thumb, and it's not very accurate. Cats and dogs mature more quickly in their early years than humans do.

Basically, dogs and cats go through certain stages of development at different rates to humans.

"When we refer to "Dog Years" and "Cat Years" we are really looking at the ageing processes going on in the body and trying to equate these changes to those which occur in the human body at a given time of life."

They don't just take the average life of a dog and the average life of a human and come out with a ratio. It's based on the dog's development in relation to human development.

It's all observational, but those estimates are widely accepted and used.

humans live to around 75 years on average

lets round that up to 77

if cat years are 7 years, then the average lifespan of a cat (by that rule) would be 11 years. most cats live atleast a few more years than that except for ones that have unnatural deaths

therefore yes, its innacurate
