11/12 Premier League thread

Barry is a good premier league midfielder. But no pace, and out of depth against world class opposition.

The Manchester Derby was very tight. No room to play, and City really didn't look like they were trying to score. United couldn't break them down. No room, and a lack of invention/.

VDV has scored in every home game. I'm pretty sure most of the goals have come from a Crouch header into the 6 yard box

the one against Inter Milan was from a Modric through pass.

Crouch is a striker. strikers are ultimately judged on their goal scoring records. Crouch's goal scoring record is pretty poor for a players who plays so many games.

but i see your point. he has done that very well so far this season.

There's a lot of value in making a team function better without scoring goals yourself.

^^but i could argue that for every goal scored from one his knock downs, is a missed chance because of his inaccuracy in front of goal.

1998–2000 Tottenham Hotspur 0 (0)
2000 → Dulwich Hamlet (loan) 6 (1) 2000 → IFK Hässleholm (loan) 8 (3)
2000–2001 Queens Park Rangers 42 (10)
2001–2002 Portsmouth 37 (18)
2002–2004 Aston Villa 37 (6)
2003 → Norwich City (loan) 15 (4)
2004–2005 Southampton 27 (12)
2005–2008 Liverpool 85 (22)
2008–2009 Portsmouth 38 (11)
2009– Tottenham Hotspur 50 (8)

not good enough for a striker rated so highly by people. the 18 goals in his first spell at Portsmouth was in the championship btw.

Are you serious?

I mean, really, I can't tell if you're joking or not. You just listed 11 chances in 11 years of professional football.

huh? thats his goal scoring record throughout his career. its not great.

i dont rate Crouch that much at all. overrated. there have been plenty of other strikers in the past that have been able to knock down the ball but also add goals as well. e.g Niall Quinn.

I did say most of the goals. Not all.

Crouch and VDV are working well though. I wouldn't break that partnership up at all.

that reminds me, did you guys see Cattermole's tackle on Modric on tuesday? that was pretty bad. could have injured him badly there.

Cattermole shouldn't of even played that game. He should have been sent off against Stoke for the handball. Then sent off again vs Spurs. Reckless footballer who should be banned for a longer time.

Anyway 2-2 against Villa. We played horrific. Shocking stuff but still drew and are unbeaten. But we need creativity!

wasted opportunities again - villa shoulve beaten united like 5-2. crossbar, post, albrighton's header just wide of the mark, downing's shot (decent attempy on goal).
