11/12 Premier League thread

should Wenger be sacked?

I don't think so. I think he is an amazing manager. And while misguided is strong in his convictions. Again though... It's a bad week for them, and they have some defensive injuries which would fuck up both Man City and Chelsea also. Not Man U while Ferguson is there, he has a Midas touch. Plus.... They had been on a brilliant run until recently after their shit start to the season. Not to mention they are missing 3 of their midfield regulars from last season.

They desperately need a left back and a striker though.

Wenger shouldn't be sacked.

It quite obvious he can win the league, and has proven what he can do with the right squad. Besides, I'm not holding him responsible for whats going on with the club right now. I just like to see Arsenal go through a rough patch :)

^Every manager in football has brought in players that have proven to be counter constructive towards team progress at some point. What is happening at Arsenal now has happened with other big clubs. United were owned during the JM era at Chelsea...people even said Fergie should leave the club.

Plenty of times Arsenal have started off with a bang and cruised through the start of the season. That's what the team is capable of doing when everyone playing there knows their role. When they start dropping points further into the season, its still the same players right?

It is still the same players, I don't think Wenger should be sacked but I think he needs to take a lot of the blame here.

Fabregas and Nasri leave, he placed them with? who? Arteta, are you really going to challenge the top teams with Arteta? Ramsey is coming back from a horrific injury, their defence is a shambles and he only decided to buy Mertersacker on deadline day. Why does he do this? Does he not have the money? He keeps saying he does, as do the board. Wilshere is a big miss but relying on a 19 year old midfielder in the Premiership is suicidal.

He's allowed the likes of Hleb, Flamini to go, they haven't been replaced, Song does a decent job in midfield but he shifts into defence so much they have no presence in midfield any more. Whose fault is that? Its not Arteta or Ramseys fault that they're not holding midfielders. I respect Arsene a lot but the shit players he has at the club is because he is poor in the transfer market, who was the last real quality player he's bought in? Where's all those great youngsters from the Carling Cup final defeat to Chelsea? Who remains from that, Walcott? Who do we blame here for that?

How many Arsenal players would get into Tottenhams first team right now, Van Persie. That's about it. Maybe Sagna or Vermaelen. but thats not good enough for Arsenal.

If any other top team went 7 years without a trophy and had gotten further away from one in those years rather than closer they would be sacked.

I agree. But most of the players that left, left for money. To get the top players in, they have to pay money. Arsenal have a strict wage policy. You can argue it's a bad thing, or a good thing. They are trying to stick to their policy. The only way they will change their approach is when they fail badly. Which may be this year. Even then I don't think it will be a drastic change. Maybe £50 Million on 4 or 5 players. They will be young players though.

^It's always interesting when a regular on German international team moves out of the Bundesliga. Arsenal will need to keep RVP and add a few more chips to make the Podolski signing worthwhile.

^I just saw the result. While watching the City/Chelsea game, the banner showed Liverpool were up 2-0. I thought it was just another day at the office for them.

Wow.

i dont want Man City to win the league. i dont want Chelsea to get CL football. I want QPR to go down, even thoughthey are the closest club to my house. i hate billionaires in football.

Tevez is a beast, I just hope he isn't in top form when they play vs. United.

Wow, Crouch scored a stunner vs City...only saw it today.
