*CLIMBS ON TOP OF AMERICAN HIGH HORSE*
Masta, you mention "a more educated opinion." You have yet to give me that. Explain it to me like I'm a child: what in Maureen Dowd's article was propaganda? What’s wrong with Americans having a visceral reaction to this? Not to wave the flag in your face, but 9/11 was a really fucked up day. I personally saw the smoke from the towers, and I’ll never forget it. I’ll never stop being really angry about it. Everyone I knew was scared shitless for quite some time afterward. I can hear you now: “Palestinians live in fear every day! God forbid the U.S. would feel that way for once.” A decent argument, and it sounds great, but it doesn’t justify 9/11. If there were ten bombings every day for a year in Saudi Arabia, that wouldn’t justify 9/11. And 9/11 wouldn’t justify the ten bombings. We need to consider these things individually, case by case, all the time. Murder is murder, Masta. Nothing the U.S. has ever done justifies 9/11. You can never justify something like that, in midtown Manhattan or anywhere else.
Even if Bin Laden had legitimate arguments—he didn’t, it was all religion-based gibberish—why do his disagreements with the U.S. government mean he can kill me and people like me? I didn’t station troops in Saudi Arabia. I never gave Israel a weapon or a dime. What exactly was the American public’s crime? Getting on planes? Going to work? Justice was done, and I’ll leave it to more qualified people to sort out international law. Bin Laden had no ideology. Stop giving the guy intellectual credence. He was just a killer. Why do I even have to say this? Bin Laden said it himself, in 1996:
"We will not ask for explanations. We will sing out that there is nothing between us that needs to be explained. There is only killing." -OBL's original fatwa
