Ristol, saying you don't want to lift weights because it might mess up your jumpshot makes Brian Scalibrine even laugh. Kobe nor MJ never lifted a weight in their life. That sounds believable right? Exactly.
You can get cut, you can get puffy, you can get big, you can get lean, you do whatever you want to do to your body with exercise. It's finding the right combination of exercise for your own personal goals, then mixing it up so you don't plateau that will be the most effective. There is so damn much to exercising and the body in general that you can take what you're doing and always add something new so do some research. 90% of the people you see in the gym go by hearsay and what is the norm. Don't just go to the gym to lift weight without educating yourself first. Know what you want, know how to achieve it then take your steps towards achieving it. I can damn near promise you it isn't going to come from just bodyweight, or free weights, or machines, or cardio, or yoga, or stretching, it will come from a combination of it all.
Also, judging someone on how much they can lift by how big they look is the dumbest thing you can possibly do. Unless you're taking body fat measurements you have no idea how much muscle someone has. If someone looks like they have "puffy" muscles it's because they have fat covering their muscles up not because they did a different exercise than the guy who doesn't have as much body fat. You basically said this already Shadows. You have your cousin who has cut muscles and some guy who is his same size with "puffy" muscles. Well the puffy muscle guy doesn't have as much muscle as your cousin, obviously. Puffy guy has muscle + plus fat to get his size whereas your cousin just has the muscle. So it's no secret as to why the puffy muscle guy struggles with 60lb whatever exercise and your cousin doesn't, he doesn't have as much muscle mass as your cousin.
Shadows. I assume you did your "Day 2" for your legs right? I don't care much about the weight but come on with those exercises. You realize you could have skipped all three of those and gone straight to the squat to do everything plus a lot more than those weak ass exercises did for you. You want good strength in your legs and core stop bullshitting with those useless workouts. Squats, deadlifts, overhead squats, full clean, full snatch and other olympic lifts, lunges, plyo, bounds, jump ups, jump rope etc. and the king of em all, the one legged squat, and the accompanying exercises you do just to work your up to a one legged squat like the bavarian split squat or side lunges and that type of shit. And I know I'm missing some great exercises to do. You have to remember there are so much more to your legs then the calves and the front of the thigh the quads, the "show" muscles people typically work on... Abductors, adductors, hip flexors, glutes, hamstrings, the other muscles you have to think about.
Reading some of your posts in this thread makes me think that you do a lot of isolation exercise and that's not the best. Try some full body lifts, I know Rukas will agree with me on that. You said you felt weak cus you changed your grip up on pull ups, just wait til you try your first overheard squat or something similar. It's obvious you have an interest in working out and I'm sure you've done some research but I would think you need to do a lot more. You seem motivated though so that's always good.
