lol now I'm waiting for Sebastian's rant about Germany :p

Granted he's still alive.

Did you really think Spain was " that much better " tonight?

Go ahead...disqualify yourself of any future participation in a football thread...

I'm daring you, get into a real analytical discussion with me. I can and will be arrogant as fuck about this.

Sneijder hero:

Sneijder is saying that it's a disgrace for the sport the way the refereeing happened tonight. "Iniesta should've gotten red for a blatant offense, there was an obvious corner for us, and in the attack leading up to the goal there was a clear offside"

I fully agree. Iniesta "after-kick" wasn't a horrible offense imo, but i've seen them give reds for it, Nigeria comes to mind. There was an obvious-obvious Nethies corner in the later stages which wasn't given, and yes, there was an off-side situation leading up to the goal. Enough to disallow it, I don't know, but it was a bit dubious.

WK 2010 Zuid-Afrika - Iniesta beslist WK-finale

Opinions?

But all that said, Sneijder rightfully says that the biggest mistakes came from themselves. "We had the best chances ourselves, Robben could've made the 1-0 and perhaps even the 2-0 and then you simply become the rightful world champions. But that didn't happen and that's the way sport is."

Big words from a big little man.

Howard Webb ruined it for me, not just for me - football fans worldwide.
I knew it would end this way with that cunt there. And no, Spain wasn't all that better than the Dutch. Robben should have nailed his opportunities, but the Dutch were their own worst enemies. Else from that, the game was pretty much equal.

Also, I'd like to give a big fuck you to the retarded South Americans running around acting like they won the World Cup. (Not saying all, but many I saw today)... I've never seen so many BS fans. There was a cocksucker in a PANAMA t shirt waiting the flag from his car like he just got his paycheck... more angry about the fat Haitian woman that came out with her flags and jersey yelling SPAIN SPAIN SPAIN in the streets. I wanted the Dutch to win, obviously, but I wouldn't start running the streets like a fool. Bah... Bandwagon fans, fucking hate them.

The De Jong tackle was worthy of a red card, but fuck you's go out to:

Sigh for saying "we won" Go get cancer, you horrible fuckwit.

All you stupid cunts saying "Spain was so much better". Masta, Illmatic (especially you, you dont know shit about football, fuck off to australia, cunt, bobby too, fuck you.) Go fuckyourself. 8 goals this entire tourney, fuck off. I dont wanna take anything away from them, they deservedly won and that's that, but dont talk the pundits to the mouth saying Spain was so great.

Webb was horrible. Cunt of a ref, I thought he was supposed to be English? Inconsistent fucker, we got yellows and Spain did the same and got nothing. Lovely play-acting from Iniesta at times as well.

But because it's Iniesta I dont hear any of you gayfags whining about it. Yeah we did start harsh, De Jong should've gotten a red and Heitinga's yellow's were justified, but FUCK did we get a lot of bullshit cards, fuck off.

It's a shame and I wish Spain all the best and congratulations.

But every one of you cunts saying Spain was much better, I will personally come to your house and give you AIDS and cancer. It's no wonder it took them to the 116th to score. We fucked up two massive Robben chances and kept the "oh-so-great" Spain from scoring for 116th minutes, when we should've won ourselves.

WE fucked it up. WE lost. Spain didn't win.

Go fuck yourselves.
what the fuck are you singling me out for ?

Thats because you didn't spout any bullshit (yet). What are your honest thoughts about the match?

What did you think of Webb tonight?
Webb is a faggot, the fact he was put in charge of the World Cup final is a disgrace in itself. Hes awful in the Premier League, he bottles big decisions (Vidic shouldve been sent off against Aston Villa after about 2 mins in the Carling Cup final - Thats coming from a Man utd fan).

The game was poor, I said on another board that the game is pretty much obvious from the start, Spain will have the ball, Holland will press and commit a lot of fouls. This turned out to be the case. Holland did commit a lot of tough fouls and yes certain Spanish players (Busquets in particular, and I think Pedro?) did fall over far too easily. Iniesta's reaction to Van Bommel which he got away with was very lucky.

Holland should've had a corner and a freekick before the Spanish break which led to the goal, a simple corner changes the whole game completly.

But I will also say that Van Bommel commited a lot of fouls and would probably of been sent off for persistant fouling in a lot of other games. But he seems to be immune from yellow cards in this World Cup.

Were Spain miles better, of course not. This Spanish side to me looks weak without the ball, Holland should've exploited Capdevilla's side a lot more. Over the game Spain probably did just enough to merit the win, Robben should've scored and I feel Robben was guilty of being glory hungry when he ran through the second time, if he went down, as it was a foul, then Puyol is sent off and Holland have a freekick. But he stayed on his feet trying to score, normally people would say well done, you did the right thing, but in context in any other game he would have fallen to the floor and got the numerical advantage.

Anyway; I probably have made little sense as I am tired but, Spain do deserve credit for winning the Euros and the World cup, but like France in 98/2000 they are not the perfect team and aren't as 'fluid' as people make out.

agreed with the above. i was expecting a whole lot more with this game considering it's the final. it was pretty disappointing and lacklustre. the referee had barely any control of the game which was frustrating, but it wasn't made easier by the dutch kung-fu tactics to slow the spanish game down. hey, it worked, but it wasn't the type of football i like watching. spain itself had a lot of gaps and problems. their defence was quite weak in my opinion, and too unreliable when it mattered most. robben is a quick player, but it didn't seem like he was as heavily marked as he should have been. this was evident given he had the best chances in the game.

as for my comment that it was a well deserved win for spain - well, in a world cup final, it's a well deserved win for either team that wins. both teams fought long and hard to get into that final, so it's well deserved either way in my opinion. but for me, as an objective spectator of the game (and not one swayed by national pride ahem), I enjoyed spain's football more this tournament, even though it wasn't the best. the dutch are kinda rough and aggressive, and i don't like that shit. i dont like kung-fu tactics. it bothers me more-so because the aussie team is very inclined to go in unnecessarily for a tackle and play rough-ish.

was an unimpressive game, but it picked up toward the end.

and dukey, go fuck yourself. football is a world game.

illmatic, why did you thank Thuggy's post when in fact it's implying quite something different from your earlier post in this thread?

when i said it looks like the dutch are kicking the shit out of the spanish players, it was in the heat of the moment, and possibly just after the de jong tackle.

MAybe iwas a bit harsh but im so sick of people saying that spain were so much better. Perhaps a bit of undeserved hate went your way.

ANd yes, football is a world game, but i'd wager my testicles i know a whole lot more about the game than you. Footy knowledge, game tactics is one of the very very few things in life i can and allow myself to be obstinately arrogant about.

the finals are always gonna be stale and boring because both teams were afraid to loose,

on the game:
both teams had their chances, robben should have buried two of those shots, and fabregas should have buried one too. I can't stand strikers, or attackers who kick the ball AT THE GOALIE.... Robben's first shot was that, the second one wasn't his fault...

on the calls:
alot of dives, webb lost control of the game after the 4th yellow given out, and then every tackle was yellow card worthy... i have no sympathy for the dutch and diving because robben's very good at it too, although spain won the diving battle today, with two HUGGGE ones from iniesta at the end... those were very embarrasing

lmao @ this from the FIFA website:

""The dream is over, the Netherlands did not become world champions," said the public broadcaster NOS, next to a photograph of striker Wesley Sneijder seated on the ground with tears in his eyes."

Wesley Sneijder a striker? Really, fellas? Since when? :D

I feel I have to apologise for Howard Webb, what with me being English.

I'd also like to say, the best team didn't win. As people keep saying. It was an even game. Which Holland just edged for clear cut chances. If Robben had a right foot, probably would have been a different story. Also seems to have lost a couple of yards of pace. Which by looking at him you'd think is understandable with age... But he's fucking 26. So then we can blame the hamstring. Anyway... Spain had a lot of possession. But still lacked a cutting edge. They were steady without being outstanding. And that goes for the whole WC. Iniesta had a good tournament. As did Villa. Casillas was good last night.

Robben was dangerous, but lacked the killer touch. Wes was a bit quiet but still showed a few killer balls. Dogged defending from the Dutch.

Shit ref. No fans.

Edit - Iniesta is a diving cunt. And he should be sued for slander for the message on his shirt. And as there are so many spaniards on here, now, then you must have been able to read it.

I agree Iniesta should have been off. Beckham was shown a straight red for less.

I thought the final was off to great start. Then W. started handing out the cards and both teams seemed to ease off, killing the game right away. Every other controversy has been mentioned already. Anyway, the ref killed what would have been a great final. Casillas saved the Spaniards. Big time player at a big stage and he came out on top.

I've supported Spain for ages and they won. I never thought I would see this day happen but it did. You could say the same thing about Africa hosting a World Cup. I mean it still sounds ridiculous that it actually happened. I really dislike the fact that it was not a glamorous final from the game action to the celebration. The trophy presentation and trophy lift has to be the worst I've ever seen in a World Cup. (BTW the first World Cup I ever watched was Italia 90).

Spain on the other hand are a team that had to prove themselves to the world and they did it last night. I'm happy for them. However, I hated seeing Sneijder distraught. To me, he is one of the mythical pure midfielders in the game. He is easily one of my favorite players.

Huh? Sued for slander? The shirt read (direct translation) "dani Jarque always with us", in memory of Daniel jarque who died of a heart attack. Not sure why you think that's slanderous or offensive?

I was in a Mexican restaurant when they won. I didn't understand that...they are the biggest band wagoners. Mexico is out so now let's root for the other Spanish speaking team.

In Mexico city apparently there were 1000s of fans waving Spanish flags, chanting and blowing in Vuvuzelas when they won it. So, yeah... :wondering:
