I haven't posted in here as I've been quite busy catching up on sleep from watchin the football and work all day.
As an Aussie I was distraught at the way in which we left the world cup. We did dominate the game although Italy did well with a player short. We had much more possession but our chances were not as good as Italy's. I think a major problem with the Aussie squad is our strikers, particularly Viduka who is the captain. 6 goals in 32 matches is a very poor record. I don't care how well he holds up the ball, a striker is meant to get goals.
In Australia the media are going crazy regarding the referees decision on giving the penalty. Honestly, Ive seen penalties given for lesser offenses but my main issue with it was the time at which it happened. If it happened at the 50th minute at least we would have had the chance to fight back. Also, I don't think the Italian player deserved that red card. It's not jus this game, but I think the standard of refereeing so far has been below world cup standard.
Anyways next matches:
-Argentina vs. Germany. Tough result to call as I think Argentina are a better team but Germany are playing well along with a home advantage. I hope Argentina win though.
-Italy vs. Ukraine. Italy are undoubtedly the better team but with all that drama going on in the Seria A it could affect their game. Im going for Ukraine but expect Italy to win.
-Brazil vs. France. France really surprised me with their performance againt Spain who was one of the inform teams of the tournament. Brazil has always been my favourite team so I want them to win and I expect them to, even if they are playing below their potential. Good to see Ronaldo improving game by game.
-Portugal vs. England. I'm going for England in this game, not really sure why though. Probably something to do with the way C. Ronaldo plays (like a bitch).
I say its out of Germany, Argentina and Brazil to win it. Brazil I think will be able to do it but overcoming Germany will be a challenge.
