World Cup 2006

Okay, seein as we have a small break from actual games, let's predict.

Germany vs. Argentina (i actually want them through so we can stuff em in the final! ;))

England vs. Portugal (Portugal will miss Costinha and Deco)

Italy vs. Ukraine ( It'll be close but they'll just have enough)

France vs. Brazil (I think this one will go all the way. I want France but Brazil will sneak it)

I agree with all four of your picks.

I Dissagree

FRANCE will beat Brazil

RONALDO isnt doing shyt he is scoring against some SHYT defenders...JAPAN? GHANA?

be SERIOUS

lets see what he does against THURAM & GALLAS the fat fock.

FRANCE are not having it against a 15 stone dude who doesnt run

why do you think RONALDINHO is playing shyt???

because at BARCELONA he has got ETO'O & GUILY running everywhere LOOKING for the through ball

at BRAZIL he's got a fat RONALDO who doesnt move

be SERIOUS GALLAS is an ATHLETE he is gonna eat RONALDO

Lol you do realize Ronaldo has been playing like this for awhile, And Ronaldo scored against Barcelona and they have Puyol one of the best defenders in the world.

Ronaldo doesn't have to move around much to score, give him the ball 18 yards from goal and he can score.

Speaking of Shit defenders, it doesn't matter who you score against you still have to put the ball in the back of the net. Maybe Owen should take lessons on how to score against Paraguay and Trinidad.

Also Ronaldinho is playing deeper for Brazil then he does for Barcelona hence he isn't doing much. But on the other hand Kaka is playing well but hes playing a simlar role..hell Kaka runs back more than Ronaldinho. And if you realised which i doubt you do Ronaldinho finished last season in poor form, it seems he is still suffering from it.

Ps. No-one is mentioning how lazy Adriano is...or do we keep getting on Ronaldo's back? Oh wait...Ronaldo scored more goals for Madrid in the league last season than Adriano did at Inter...hmm...

Seriously i really have to stop clowning you fools.

Yellow card blunder forces ref to quit

BERLIN (AP) - English referee Graham Poll, who showed a Croatian player three yellow cards before sending him off in a World Cup match, is quitting international refereeing.

Poll told Britain's Sky Sports television Thursday that he had considered retiring from all soccer after his blunder, which meant a Croatian player stayed on the field three minutes longer than he should have.

The result of the match was not affected and Croatia was eliminated.

However, the 42-year-old referee said he had decided to continue refereeing in the English Premier League.

Poll said he took complete responsibility for the error. He showed Josip Simunic a yellow card twice but did not send him off. He was shown a third yellow card and sent off after the game ended, three minutes after receiving the second card.

"Certainly what happened a week ago is something I deeply regret. Inexcusably, I made an error in law and most mistakes, most discussion, most controversy surrounds opinion and they are things we can always debate.

"But what I did was an error in law and for that there can be no dispute. It wasn't caused by a FIFA directive or because I referee differently than what I do in the Premier League," Poll said.

Poll said he did not realize he had made a mistake until told about it after the match. Several sleepless nights and thoughts of retirement followed.

"The first two or three days you think about retirement, you think it's all gone wrong, and you start to doubt your ability, but that didn't last for too long. Because of 26 years of hard work and countless games that have gone extremely well - you know it's probably been my best season ever - I will be back refereeing in the Premier League next season," Poll said.

"It's time for me to let go of the mistake - nobody got hurt from the error, nobody died ... What I did was a public mistake but it didn't affect qualification, it didn't affect the outcome of the match."

Poll has worked at the two previous World Cups and was also a part of the 2000 European Championship.

"None have gone right, none have worked for me, for various reasons," Poll said. "We say in life one thing goes wrong it's unlucky, if two things go wrong then maybe you're really unlucky, but if it's three then you have to look at yourself and say something isn't quite right."

I'm putting my money on a Argentina - Brazil final.

Portugal - England, i don't know. Portugal looks stronger but is hampered by cards.

Italy - Ukraine, probably Italy, but i wouldn't mind a Ukraine win :D

Italy have been solid, I think theyre a good bet to win the World Cup, no-one is really talkin about them to win it however they have looked solid.

They will surely beat Ukraine then will face either Argentina or Germany the team they beat 4-1 recently.
everybody has been hatin on italy. i see people on my msn list with anti italian displays. everybody expected a bad italy team, even i, and they did surprise. not as strong as i'd like to, but enough strong to give me hope that they can get to the finals.
