World Cup 2006

^ Yeah, it was a very nice game with both teams dominating at different period of times.

That foul Zidane did on Materazzi was quite unexpected, in my opinion. Materazzi must have said something serious or offensive, otherwise, I doubt Zidane would've done it just for the heck of it.

I seriously thought it was David Trezeguet who was in trouble as the camera was on him at first. :p Anyway, I was quite pleased to see Henry played quite well on this game. Reminisicing his Arsenal days when he beat those few Italian defenders. :thumb: Ribery should've finished for France though but oh well, that's football.

Anyway, congratulations to Italy. Four more years. ;)

funny. and i agree with everyone that its disappointing that he is retiring this way. maybe materazzi said something mean and racist and that is not nice, BUT zidane should have just ignored him. thw whole world see you and you act like a fucking kid. act like a fucking grown up. it's sad.

I have no problem with Italy winning. They've really grown into the tournament as a very solid, rockhard team.

Materazzi: when he keeps his head clear, one of the best defenders in the world, period. His effort is beyond measure. Hard for the opponent but also hard on himself.

Gattuso: the eternal workhorse

Grosso: the back that comes forward, sweetness.

Pirlo: brings creativity to the team

Zambrotta: energetic player that defends strongly and can make a good run too

Cannavaro: exceptional defender

Buffon: great keeper
and the list goes on. Italy played very well tonight. France's penalty, well, I wasn't convinced it was one. Deserved win for Italy imo, france played very well too.

The thing that caused me pain was Zidane's exit.
i agree. wtf was that penalty at the beginning? i'm sorry but if it wouldnt be of that penalty, probably france wouldnt even have scored.. they played good football tho, and italy too. but i still think if it wasnt for that penalty, it woul have been 1-0 for italy. also there's that goal that was called offside and cancelled that wasnt really offside. they showed the replay only once and i swear it wasnt offside... oh well at the end of the day italy wins and i was celebrating it. and fuck all the haters, you're all jealous.

I can confirm to you that Luca Toni? goal was an offside goal because it was replayed a few times here in the coverage we received in Oz, so it was a very good call by the linesman.

The 7th minute penalty to France was soft but it does bring you a memory when Grosso tripped over or on that case, obstructed by Lucas Neill. However, if you and others may remember, Malouda was fouled for the second time on the box, which was turned down this time by the ref, by Zambrotta, which I feel was a stronger case of a penalty then the 7th minute one.

Also, don't forget that foul Gattuso did on someone (I can't remember who, but I think it could be Ribery or Malouda). The French player nuttied Cannavaro, went passed him but Gatusso clearly blocked the Frenchman's run, which could also be called an obstruction in the box.

Peace~

then it might have been an offside. but from the angle i got from the reply which was played once, he really didnt seem like an offside to me.

I just want it to be known that Zidane is even more of a legend than before (if that's possible) for me! That butt was hilarious. But let's not forget that he damn near dragged France there alone and to take that penalty in the manner he did was absolutely amazing.

His sending off had no influence on the game, Trezeguet still would've taken a penalty and missed and it was too late for him to influence the game.

Zidane = God

I just read my local football (soccer) news.

I had a laugh when I read what Raymond Domenech said to the media this morning.

"I don't know what Materazzi told Zidane - all I know was the man of the match was not Andrea Pirlo but Materazzi, he scored the equaliser and he had Zidane sent off."

Peace~

What Zidane did was not childish but legendary, it wasn't infantile behaviour but the defence of something much greater than football, a mans dignity.
Why is it that, one form of violence is derided and you point the finger at Zidane, yet another form of violence and bullying (what Matrerazzi said) is overlooked! People who shout abuse in the most demeaning ways, need a fucking butt to the fucking nose.

There's been all this talk of, kicing racism out of football, yet the players are never punished, Italian and Spanish people are some of the most racists fucks in the world, the abuse that their teams players give to others is unbeliavable, where are the white men in suits of FIFA when Henry is being called a monkey and Zidane is being called a terrorist etc! They're quick to condemn physical abuse

Well after years of abuse and years of taking it on the chin with no help from the white men in suits, Zidane (some reports suggest it was to do with him being a muslim - terrorist maybe?) did what he should have done years ago, my only regret is, it was not to the nose and he didn't stamp on him when he was down!

Goddamn Italiano's, they're gonna flaunt this win for years to come now :(. Oh well, well deserved. They finally discovered how to win a penalty shoot-out, I was thinking "Baggio all over again" during it. Lol. Congradulations ya pasta eating caralho's.

peace.

Good post. I feel the same way for the person who provoked the man himself, so I couldn't agree more. It's like listening to only one side of the story.

ITALIA!!!!!!!!! :D

Whats really good yall? :) I still can't believe Italy are the world cup champions.I know they won but it doesn't feel like it.Maybe as time goes by,i'll start to believe more and more.

I don't know where to start.I've always been a die-hard Italy fan ever since i was little but coming to this tournament i really wasn't expecting anything from Italy.I really was expecting they would gonna come this close and win it all.I had given up my hope on them to be honest. But they proved me wrong.

The game against USA was a total embaressment.I said Italy must be out of their mind if they think they going to win. Then against Aussies, again they didn't play well and were lucky to advance in the next round. Then, perhaps next match against Ukraine was the turning point(?)I don't know but they played well. And then against Germany, they shocked the world in last minutes and beat them as they should have.Man,if you think about it,it doesn't feel right for Italy to win yes i agree, the way they have played and the scandal thats going on in Italy, plus they didn't have players like Baggio,Vieri,Maldini to root for so it didn't feel full win.It was like a brad with no cheese.

Buffon..is it safe to say now he is the best goalkeeper(?)Hope so.
Grosso...new face and a great one.Made a name for himself.Tough shoes to fill in after Maldini.
Materazzi...another new great face for Italians for future to come.
Cannavaro...well,he is the core of this team.
Del Piero...probably the player who deserved the most this Cup.Besides him being my idol.
Gattuso...horseshoe/bulldog/animal/workaholic man.
Zambrotta...another great defender. He is probably underated.
Pirlo...great play maker.

Thats **** now.Italy moves up to second place after Brazil.:)
