World-Class English Football Players

Anyone who doesn't think Rooney is world class knows nothing about football.

I dont think Rooney is world class player and i do know about the football.

England have just as good a team as any other in the world. Brazil are the over rated team. Name me 5 world class Brazilians who play at the moment? I can think of 3 Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Robinho. Any more? Kleberson was their captain and star midfielder. How well has he done at Man Utd?

Ronaldo,Ronalidninho,Adriano,Kaka, and Robinho.


now you name not 5 but 3 world class english players. only beckham like him or not, overated or not.

People like to hate those that are on the top of their game. and the most popular.

Im not hating becuase hes not on top of the game. there are better ones who are on top of him.

England have very few true world class players. But so do most nations. It's just chucked about too easy. I'd say Scotland have 0, Northen Ireland have 0, Eire have 0 and Wales have 1. England have 4 - Gerrard, Beckham, Owen and Rooney. And I'm not going on their current form. I'm going on whether they would get in every club in the world. And they would. Owen should be in that Real team. It's all down to favouritism.

Wayne Rooney was voted the best young player in Europe last year by Italian pundits.

And if Gerrard was playing for Chelsea instead of Liverpool, people would be talking about him a lot more than they are. He was well known enough to take part in the Europe vs. Rest of the World Tsunami appeal game.

first off, u cant compare rooney to anyother striker in europe like henry, VN or other strikers of that ilk. give rooney a few years 2 develop his game and he WILL be 1 of the best strikers in the game. rooney raises his game for the big occasions, hes done it so many times in his 3 year career, and that shows u he is got guts.

secondly, ferdinand better than terry?? for me terry beats rio.
the only things that rio is better than terry at is passing and his pace. but terry, he is like another terry butcher. he will go for anyball, id say terry reads the game beter than rio aswell. terry would put his head in where it hurts whearas rio would worry bout his hair. rio isnt good at putting his life on the line, he wont put his foot in for a challenge where his career would be in jepordy. rio is just a pussy on the pitch.

and another thing bout rio i dont like, he is a media whore. everytime a united player scores he has 2 run the length of the pitch 2 jump on the back of the goal scorer just 2 get his picture in the following mornings newspaper. he also lacks professionalism. and is vastly overrated. £100,000 grand a week he wants. id rather give £100,000 a week to krissy commons, but thats another story.

what do non-english football fans think 2 the old schoolers like gary lineker and stuart pearce?

NO! quit that goals per minute thing. for example: a few weeks ago the german striker Benjamin Lauth scored 4 or 5 goals in 4 or 5 matches even though he just played the last 15/25 minutes of every game...but hes far away from being world-class....

world-class = playing constantly (at least one year) on a very high level

High level? Owen has played at every level and has scored goals, 29 so far for England, beat Ian Rush's record for goals in Europe by an Liverpool player, i think he is 2nd top scorer and Madrid behind Ronaldo.

Beckham has been in poor form of late, Lampard is world class, he has led Chelsea to the Premiership, CL Semi Final, League cup winners. Gerrard the same, apart from losing in the League cup final.
Scholes also is a world class player, but doesn't play for England now.

Also many people outside England know Gerrard, rumoured to be going to teams like Real Madrid, Barcalona, Juventus. But will probably opt for Chelsea.

Lol Bachaveli c'mon...Lampard is regarded by so many teams as a world class player, he proved it at Euro 2004 also, Gerrard pretty much led Liverpool to the Champions league last season, without him they would have struggled to finish in the top 10.

Frank Lampard is world class
Ashley Cole is world class (allthough he needs 2 improve on his defensive quality)
Gary Neville is world class(think about it how many players are regulry consistant at international level.)
Paul Robinson(a better keeper than 95% of keepers in the world) so that makes him world class
Terry is world class
even Rio is world class(even tho what i said counts for me)
Sol Campbell<< world class
Owen, give me owen over raul or ronaldo anyday(i forgot 2 put him in reason for edit)
we had scholes who was world class(before sven ruined his england career)
Kieron Dyer has the potential 2 be a world class player, but only if he keeps his game focused and leave the distractions behind him

a footballer doesnt have 2 be a "big-name" 2 be world class. a footballer doesnt need fancy step overs or showboat around 2 be world class.

Gerrard is world class. almost single handily he has got a unfancied liverpool to the CL semis. and has practically got liverpool to 5th place this season, maybe even fourth. and dont forget that last season, he nearly single handily got liverpool 2 finish fourth.

beckham world class- i dont know about that, but englands midfield doesnt need him anymore. he holds us back in both senses, he constantly pumps the ball up field to 2 little midgets who are still smaller than andre the giant even if rooney stood on owens shoulders. he also holds us back when we are trying 2 get forward. and without scholes in the england team, there is no need for him 2cross the ball because the players who can head the ball dont get forward because they are playing at the back.

Beckham i think still has a place in the team, but id rather see Shaun Wright Phillips play, he can take on and beat players and score goals, Whereas Beckham has only scored 5 goals for England which were not a freekick or Penalty.

I don't think G.nevill is world class, hes consistant, but not consistant at a world class level, Robinson, i dont think so either, World class keepers are like Cech, Casilles.

Lampard and Gerrard are very good for english league. they do very well there. but its not only bout playing in club teams. what has england as a team done in recent years in world class level? nothin. thats why not many people talkin bout them outside the england.

i guess its what you call 'world class' that needs to be described here. to me world class player and perfect example is Roonaldinio. somebody who plays in very high level,consistant, day in day out plays his best. who is truely and naturality football player. they are rare.

how many right backs in the world have performed on a consistnant level at any level in the past 10 years.

englands midfield for should be SWP, SG, FL, SD.

but i have allways pondered SWP on the right, SG and FL in the mid and Beckham doing his thing on the left. serioulsy beckham doesnt do much on the right when he plays, so why not put him on the left and let him pump long balls up front. he also plays better balls when he has 2 cut inside.

Ferdinand made the Man Utd defence look a whole lot stronger when he came back from his ban, Utd have got the 2nd best defence in England behind Chelsea who have another world class defender in Terry.

I also have worries with Robinson, i think he is good, but not world class.

but neville is the only defender at united who would walk into chelsea's defence. carvalho has been brilliant along side terry, and silvestre isnt fit enough 2 clean bridge's boots.

Ferdinand got run ragged by Ashton and Mckenzie at carrow road, and the lack of a quality partner at the centre isnt bringing the best out of rio.
