Ronaldinho is a great player my arse.He is all flash and no substance.

He doesnt contest headers,he doesnt tackle,he pulls out of 50/50's and worst of all he never ever tracks back.To think that people compare him to Maradona. What a joke.Maradona had everything.

Messi on the other hand has a far better atitude. He gets stuck in and doesnt give up easily. He wasnt anything super tonight but he has a great future.

Chelsea played well tonight and deserved to win.Their defence, along with Essien and Makalele are excellent. All they need is for Shevchenko and Ballack to settle and hit form and they will be unstoppable.Lets hope that doesnt happern.

Van Nistelrooy got an excellent goal yesterday didnt he?
Why are you bringing up aspects of a defender, your an idiot, Ronaldhino's job is to create chances for the foward & link up as great as possible with him, he didn't do that yesterday but everyone has a bad game, just ask the Chelsea fans, even when he wasn't on top form in that game when ever he had the ball they was biting their nails, that's how much of a threat he is.

Its not a knee jerk reaction man^^.I basing my opinion on the World Cup and even games i saw him play last year.I never said he was a bad player.Fuck,he the most skillful player on the plant and a joy to watch in full flow, but he is not a GREAT player like Maradona,Pele.Di Stefano,Cryuff,Best,Zidane, etc. He isnt there when the going is stuff(e.g last night,European Cup final). He wont fight for the ball or contest it.

A great player imo has everything. He can be skillful and a joy to watch on the ball, but he will also get stuck in when the going gets tough. He will also have that bit of madness.Maradona had all these things.

Do u get what im sayingIts not a knee-jerk reaction and im not saying Ronaldinho is a bad player or anything.
If your basing it on his poor form of late (World cup and the last 6-7 games of La Liga) Then yes he hasn't been that good. But this is the same person who ripped apart Real Madrid(where he got applauded by Real Madrid fans), scored great goals vs Chelsea. Scored consistantly last season and assisted also during the La Liga and CL last season. (had better stats then Henry going into the final)

Yes he can't tackle. That wasn't Zidanes strong point either. Zidane didn't score many goals either, so he wasn't an all around player also, so by your logic Zidane isn't a great player also.

Do you think Keane was a great player? or is Maldini a great player? or as their forward play lacked they can't be called great?

And seriously we cannot compare Ronaldinho to Pele as none of us, i don't think saw him play on every game basis, maybe he had bad games also?

and Ronaldinho has won everything there is to win in football (bar the Copa del rey).

Mentioning Di Stefano is laughable, coz im sure you saw him play in the 1950's right?

Ive seen videos of Di Stefano. And he is known to be a great player.

Yet again u have missed my point.Ronaldinho isnt a defender so he doesnt have to be back defending(Although, did u see Drogba last nite). But what he should be doing is closing down opposition player while they have the ball and getting in blocks,or when his marker breaks forward he should track him back.He doesnt have to be a defender to do that..Do u play soccer with a team yourself.I play left midfield. My strength is beating players and crossing the ball, but if the right back breaks forward and i make no effort to track him back or get in a tackle,i will be crucified by the manager and team mates.

Its interesting that you mentioned Roy Keane. In his prime,he scored plenty of goals breaking forward from midfield,so i dont think he lacked forward play.Maldini's attitude is the total opposite of Ronaldinhos.Saying all this though,Ronaldinho is the best player in the World at the moment and i love watching him when he is at his best.Perhaps if he was outstanding at the next World Cup i would consider him a great. Not yet though.

Also,Barcelona's midfield is to weak at the moment.I feel that if they want to play Messi and Ronaldinho they need a tough guy in the middle of the field.Someone like Essien or Makalele.Especially since Ronaldinho wont track back.Edmilson is poor imo.He played most of his career at centre half.

btw,Zidane scored plenty of goals:

Club Apps/Goals
Cannes 61(6)
Bordeaux 139(28)
Juventus 191(28)
Real Madrid 155(34)

France 108(31)

Thats pretty good for a midfielder

How do you know if the Chelsea fans were biting their nails.Stop talking shit. You obviously never played the game and you lack soccer knowledge.Heading, blocking and closing down arent just attributes needed for defending.A forward player needs them as well.Ronaldinho doesnt have any of these. He is great when all his skills come off and show his brilliance, but when things arent going his way i hate to watch him..Did you see Drogba last night. He spent parts of the game in the left back position. He always makes an effort to close down players.

Dont think for a minute that i am saying that Ronaldinho is a poor player. He is the best in the world at the moment.I love watching good football and Ronaldinho at his best is all that is good to watch in football.I just dont think he is a great legendary player just yet and his lack of effort when things arent going well for him or his team annoys me.Do u get my point now?

But you said Ronaldinho isn't a great player, if you think hes the best right now shouldn't he be classed great? and didnt he have a good 2002 World cup? (obviously was overshadowed by Ronaldo).

Maybe Ronaldinho should track back, but ive seen the likes of Figo in his prime not track back i remember vs Man Utd he kept letting Silvestre go on runs.

And yes i play football, Left wing or Right wing, but thats beside the point im not playing on a Champions league level lol.

Personally i hate it when people claim players are great and never seen them on a game to game basis like Pele or Di Stefano. I personally have only seen video clips of both players, so they may be the greatest of all time. But I can't say they are the best as ive seen as the clips only showed me the great bits, not the times they lost form and struggled.

Zidanes record is decent. But did you watch him last season for Real Madrid? He was being doubted due to his poor form, shocking but it happens even to the great players.

Speaking of Drogba he complained that his lack of form last season was because he was defending too much from the front lol.

Your point is weird you go and say hes not a great player he can't do this or that but then say hes the best player right now. wtf.

and yes Barca made a mistake by selling Van Bommel.

I think Ronaldinho is the best player in the World now.But i dont think he is Great. For me,Great is used to describe Maradona or Pele.Ronaldinho isnt on their level(yet.as i said if he was to play excellent at the next world cup i would change my opinion). He was ok,nothing spectacular at the 2002 World Cup but Rivaldo and Ronaldo were the key men.I would consider Ronaldinho on the same level as the likes of Rivaldo(i prefer him to Ronaldinho),Romario,Figo or Ballack.Very good player but not among the best player ever..Do you know what i mean?

Zidane wasnt great last season, but then again he is old now.I was never a big fan of Figo.I went missing in a lot of big games as well, although he was a joy to watch at times.
