Beckhams best goals?

He's not completely washed up. Inter still wanted him. I think people expected him to go to the U.S. in a few years, but not necessarily now.

I'll rephrase it a bit...not washed up but past his prime?

PLus 250,000 million is one hell of a reason to go to the U.S. Money talks, of course thats over five years, plus thats not figuring in his endorsment deals he will have and merchandise, Im sure the MLS is going to push him like the NBA does Lebron James. I think the highest paid player before David made like 1.5million.....

Coach says Beckham won't play for Real Madrid again

MADRID, Spain (AP) -- David Beckham won't play again for Real Madrid after announcing his departure at the end of the season for the Los Angeles Galaxy of the MLS.

"He is not going to play any more. He will practice, but he is not going to play," coach Fabio Capello said Saturday at a news conference.

Beckham announced this week he will not extend his contract with Real Madrid when it expires in June and is instead leaving for the Galaxy and a five-year deal.

"The player's decision is to go to Los Angeles. He has always been a great professional, but a player who has such a major contract with another team ... we cannot count on him," Capello said. "I think one cannot have the same drive if one is already with another team."

Beckham joined Madrid from Manchester United in 2003.

definatley after his prime.

But well, money is a good reason I guess. He earns a lot plus it's a new market you know, in Europe people are tired of Beckham a lil bit maybe plus there are many other good players, he's the star in the US no doubt and it opens up a lot of opportunities to make even more money. So money wise it's probablly a good decision, but like I said before, as a pro I'd rather play on the highest stage than earn even more money, but that's me.

Aston Villa 3 Manchester United 1, Villa Park, Premiership, August 1995.

SicC, one comparaison that would make you understand who and what Beckham is would be Puff Daddy with better lyrics...

The guy is his own manager, everything he gains, he keeps it. Galaxy bought a product, not a player. Even if the player is still good, passed his prime, not washed up, but is good (I'm not a Bekcham lover, nor a Beckham hater, but anyone who says that this guy "sucks" is close minded).

Becks will give some more interest to football in the USA just like Andy Roddick did with Tennis... It's not pure interesnt, its materialistic interest, but he'll sell jerseys and if 1 in 10 people who watch the game cuz of Becks happen to fall in love with Soccer, then Beckham did what he came to do in the States

Loan him to Man U for one last spell, and I'll be happy.

That or loan him to some team like Wrexham huhu

Well Kevin Doyle and Andrew Johnsson were among the top scorers in league one last year and England could have done with either of them at the World Cup in the summer, except of course Doyle is Irish but Johnsson was was definately worth his place.

Beckham hasnt been a soccer player since he left Old Trafford and maybe even shortly before that.Ferguson had a good reason for selling him back then. The glamour and glitz has taken over his life since he went to Spain.I would consider him a joke. This move is only about money and more publicity in the states. How is Beckham moving to the States going to make their shit league any better.I certainly wont be watching it anyway.

He is still only 31.He could still fight for a place at Real Madrid or move to another European League if he wanted. The guy should become a movie star or a model or something. You would understand a player making this kind of move at the end of his career at the age of 35 or 36.It understandable that Real Madrid or England couldnt win fuck all with this clown in their teams.

DPG iz all I C said:
Greece at Old Trafford ?

when his team needed him he was there.
Well it was a good goal but they were in the play offs anywayz so it wasn't really a big deal.

IMO becks has always flopped in the big tournaments. I think his best tournament was 98 an we all know what happened there.Although i was lovin it at the time.:)

I agree with Bobby sands.

if it wasn't for him, england would't even won against Ecuador (that team with yellow and blue jerseys they played in the 1/8 last summer..)

I understand all to well he is a ploy to get americans attracted to football, we can relate to him because he is white speaks english etc.

But you didnt answer my question about him playing at the top teit 1 or whatever u lads like to call it. From what I have been gathering the guy has pretty much snubbed off some really good teams in England to play alsewhere and people dont like him because of that, hence the he has burnt to many brodges to be able to get picke dup by one of those top teams???? Yes no maybe so?

None of the top teams in england wanted him. I belive both milan teams wanted him, if so he could have done a decent job for both teams for a couple of years, but i think it would have been more about making the teams cash other than his football ability.

Just to be picky...

Championship and League one are different.

Illuminattile did say League one not Championship..so someone like Nathon Tyson isn't worthy of an England place :p

Last game of qualifying actually..and it DID matter alot as it prevented England from going into the playoffs and have a tricky match vs Ukraine. :).

I still think of the championship as division one.He is right though,no player in league one is good enough for the england team.

I was watching the Man Utd and Villa game today. One thing that always amazes me is how Beckham is so highly rated in World football over the past 10 years and how a player like Paul Scholes gets very little awards or recognition. He is fucking brilliant and is definitely in my top ten players in the world. He has been consistently brilliant since he first played for Man Utd.And this is coming from a Liverpool supporter.Id even say that he is better than Gerrard. He is pure class. His passing and positioning are excellent and is skillful as well.He has also chipped in with some great goals as well.

Compare him to Beckham.Scholes does his talking on the pitch and leads a quiet life off it while Beckham is the opposite. It sickens me that stupid people think Beckham is one of the best in the World and they probably wouldnt have heard of Scholes. Those people arent soccer fans.Scholes is what the real soccer fans would consider as one of the best.
