David Beckham to join LA Galaxy

Crazy thing is, they pay so much cash for him to play an he aint even an exciting player! if he aint scoring free kicks, or whipping in crosses there aint to much to his game.
Actually, I think he's probably the type of player who won't do too bad. If Ryan Giggs moved to America at the end of his career, people would be disappointed that he'd lost all his pace and trickery. Becks will still be able to do what he does best - cross, pass and take freekicks - for longer than Giggs will be able to go on mazy runs.

Been a Galaxy fan since the beginning. Beckham is going to make L.Donovan and H.Gomez that much better. They are going to tear up the league next season. :thumb:

yes, but does that mean u agree with me or not? HE was outstanding for a while, bu he really was overrated afterwards and I feel like he never was as great as they made it look.... never.

He wasn't overrated back in the ManU days.

The reason he sucked at Real Madrid is simply because Alex Ferguson has a flair for selling his players at the right time.

He sold him just at the time when he started to fall.

Beckham continued to play great for England (you could easily see the difference in his game when he played for England and when he played for Real)

During his Man Utd days, he was an awesome player with the best crosses and the best free kicks. He ran everywhere and never gave up. When he played for Real, he only had Free Kicks and nice crosses.

The last 2/3 years at man u he wasn't the player he was.

My fav memory of becks is when alex ferguson kicked a boot in the dressing room an it hit becks in the forehead!! pure class.

He was MAYBE overrated at United, because of his image and his mainstream popularity. He was still a very good player. It angers me that even United fans don't respect him, despite what he did for us (watch the '99 Champions League final, look who's putting in the corners that led to the two goals).

He was DEFINITELY underrated at Madrid and for England. Especially by English fans, because none of them watch foreign football and they just stopped liking him because he'd gone abroad (see also; Owen Hargreaves). He was one of the best midfielders in Spain for most of his time at Madrid, even when the team was doing poorly. And he was responsible for half of England's goals at the last World Cup, so his international form wasn't as bad as people make out either. Fans and the media just saw players like Wright-Phillips and Lennon and decided to jump on Beckham's back. If he'd still been at United, I really doubt anyone would have been calling so hard for him to be dropped. The English media (and thus the fans) just don't like it when players swan off to foreign countries. That's why they all turned on him.

I don't agree with you Ilu but I guess we leave it right there, cause I won't change my opionion and you won't change yours. I don't feel like he was underrated at Real, really not. I agree with stefan, I feel like he was overrated back in United and it continuted afterwards..... the hype is bigger than his play - for quite a while.

P.S: That doesn't mean that he won't have a big influence in US soccer, he's now the biggest star and one of the best players over there - no doubt he can have an huge impact now that he left the biggest stage of soccer.

He's not completely washed up. Inter still wanted him. I think people expected him to go to the U.S. in a few years, but not necessarily now.

I can eventually see him as President of the United States, or being the most famous and wealthy person in the U.S.

This will make Soccer huge in the U.S. and they do have talent over there. I think this could also get Becks back in the England Squad.

Putting Becks back in the England squad based on how he does in the MLS would be like calling up the top goalscorer from League One.
