I'm sure they are looting hospitals for TV's, hmmm lets think for one second, what is a hospital for? They are looting the hospital so they can survive. They need food, water, aide, whatever. This is about survival. Do you think if you were starving you would care who owned the store you are trying to find food in.
shut up i just wanted to laugh at groobz for saying the thing he said back then

The funny thing is this is turning into a Human Disaster.

I'm glad people are donating and all but this "operation" is still slow. Too slow. I'm glad people are leaving but there are not nearly enough people there to help. All i hear is tomorrow help will be arriving, tomorrow the food will be there. Why not today, or yesterday, just sad.

They are not letting anymore people in the astrodome now. The buses that just arrived have been turned away after the long ride from NO and all the shit these people have been through. They told them to find another city. They said the astrodome is jammed packed and they have reached the limit for the fire ordinace at the astrodome. Why have the buses continue to come when they know its jammed packed? It is a very very sad situation.

Help me out on the specifics, but the United States was the only country to ever turn against their allies' best wishes in their agreement when deciding to go into Iraq, and it was effected the world. You think they forgot?

Besides, if you saw the richest, most stuck up kid in your class that you were so jealous of have his house burn down, but had money so he could build a new one, and if he needed help, you probably wouldn't give it to him either. The rich boy being America, you being the World. Though you feel inclined to help, you'd like to put it off as long as possible, or maybe never do it at all, since you don't want to and want to reach his level yourself.

Donating? You'll be donating the next time you fill up your gas tank or pay your insurance bills, specifically flood insurance. The only thing I could see myself donating as an average-income American with no solid ground as far as our economic future goes, is blood.

Thats is exactly it, they were unprepared. They knew this hurricane was gonna be a catastrophe before it made landfall, why not be prepared then, why only act when people are starving and need help. I hope the outside world looks at us like a joke now and sees that we arent all mighty. I just want to cry looking at the people with no hope, no food and no water. Seeing the babies, CNN looks like a show for people asking for money feeding kids in Africa. I really hope we learn from this and prepare next time, you know damn well from today on people will be saying, dont let this turn into a "New Orleans".

I agree. I don't understand neigther why they didn't evacuate the city earlier. I dunno where the army is - the biggest strongest army in the world..... I mean, ok u can nuke a city, but u can't get your own folks out there? That's ridiculous.
Over all, I think the handled the situation terrible. Well, maybe it's because the once in charge are on vacation whenever a disaster comes our way.....

i was too lazy to translate this by myself so i used reverso.net

During this time, in New Orleans, the authorities tempt with doggedness to pursue the evacuation of the dozens thousand persons imprisoned into the city flooded from now on four days, without foods nor assistance.

The anarchy which settled down in the city, was engaged in the gangs of armed looters, complicates the rescue operations and terrorizes the victims.

Rescuers, policemen and even soldiers, were the target of hostile shootings these last hours in the streets of New Orleans where exchanges of shots, fires and explosions are indicated.

I think they did put out a mandatory evacuation but the people that are there now are the ones who couldn't leave either for phyisical or health reasons or they had no means of leaving, ie no car or other transportation to get out, the poverty stricken people. At least that's what the majority of them are if I'm not mistaken. There are however people that simply decided not to leave, felt they could ride out the storm. I can imagine those people are kicking themselves in the ass right about now, but that's only a small amount of them. I'm sure the majority of people that were able and had the means got out.
One thing I haven't figured out though is, isn't there places down there where they can land planes? Why hasn't the government sent some planes down there and flown those people out? Surely that would take alot less time than trying to bus them out.
I honestly cannot believe that it has taken this long to get those people some help. That is out and out ridiculous. We can up and send thousands of troops to Iraq in a matter of hours but we can't get help to our own people for 5 days.
It really wouldn't shock me if someone makes an assassination attempt on Bush before this is all over with.

the us is getting help. Japan just pledged $200,000 to the American Red Cross, and $300,000 for equipment and supplies. Austrailia is giving $8million to the Red cross. the other countries offering money or aid include: Russia, Canada, France, Honduras, Germany, Venezuela, Jamaica, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Hungary, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, China, South Korea, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Guatemala, Paraguay, Belgium, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Italy, Guyana, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Austria, Lithuania, Spain, Dominica, Norway, Cuba and Bahamas.
So go ahead and keep whinig that America isn't getting any help.
