They won't if Canada doesn't support Quebec if and when they seperate. Like I said, without Canada's help, Quebec's seperation wouldn't last long, and they would come right back begging to be a part of the country again.
ya thats true

and with this whole gun thing...theyre announcing this new plan. "complete ban on handguns - other than for recreational purposes/competitions and 2 year max sentence"

its good that theyre doing something, but 2 years is still nothing. I dont know why they dont rise that to 10 years. Whats wrong with that??

i have a handgun. when filling out the paperwork for it, i had to specify the use for it. the choices were "collecting, or target practise" there wasnt an option for shooting street thugs or doing drive bys.

i use my gun for target practise, yet i guarentee i'll get a letter in the mail demanding my gun if this thing goes through.

ya for sure. But its not gonna effect the shooters who kill ppl on the streets of t-dot. U think they register and follow all procedures like you?!

thats exactly my point. these people DO NOT follow the rules. therefore this new handgun ban is simply going to bother myself and people like me while all the criminals in toronto continue to shoot each other.

murder is already illegal... if thats not stopping them then a stupid handgun ban surely wont.

so you'd rather get your head blown off? by all means go down south
What, you think a handgun ban would actually work? Yeah, because the assault rifle ban they had in the states for 10 years worked real well, nobody was killed by assault rifles during those 10 years:rolleyes: Here's a newsflash: Most criminals don't buy their guns from legal gun shops, so a ban won't do a damn thing.

Stiffer sentences may work, may being the key word. Don't forget that in the US most states have the death penalty, and yet that doesn't seem to stop people from killing. All I know is that a handgun ban won't do shit to stop gun crime

Chicago police tipped Toronto in putting more police officers out on the streets (morning radio show in t-dot) Aparently they had a similar problem and fixed it with more cops. That might work

Even though I wanted a handgun later in life I won't really care if they are banned. I'd rather have a rifle anyways since they're much cooler

How about changing life to actually LIFE? As in if you get a life sentence, you only come out of the prison in a box. No more of this 25 years, maybe less for good time bullshit

they'd have to change our Charter of Rights and Freedoms which guarantees the right to life. They won't change it to "Right to Life....sometimes"

I have no idea what you mean. Why would they have to change the charter of rights in order to give stiffer penalties to gun murderers? Once you enter the penal system you have no rights anymore

Actually prisoners have rights, thats why when they are sick they have medical care (which is free still). No prison in the free world takes away all rights when you go to prison, usually the only right that is taken is leaving the prison.

While that may be true, I still don't understand why they would have to change the charter of rights in order to make life in prison actually mean life in prison

oh i read your post wrong, i thought you mean implement the death penalty. Ya no changes would be needed to the charter, just the judicial system
