Well, Rukas and I had a discussion about why anal sex is haram* in Islam. I told him I needed more time to research the subject to explain it more thoroughly. So, as a result, this is what information I have accumulated on this subject

First, I have to clear up one thing. Islam is a religion of faith and belief. Also, Islam is a family oriented religion. Islam encourages the reproduction of humans and the propagation of the human race. Keep this in mind through out this article or essay, as you wish.

Let us look at the first reason why anal sex is forbidden in Islam. “Your women are a harth* [tilth]…” (Quraan*, 2:223). Let’s pause here for a second. The Arabic word is Harth, witch means tilth. Now, let’s look at the dictionary’s definition of tilth. Tilth P Pronunciation Key (t lth)n.
1. Cultivation of land; tillage.
2. Tilled earth.
As we know, women can only be impregnated through the vagina. As a result, the cultivation occurs, the seed is sown. It’s very important to look at the meaning of the word. The Quraan has a succinct style; it shows profound details in so little wordings. The verse continues, “Your women are a harth (tilth) for you (to cultivate) so go to your harth [tilth] as ye will." Now, the second part tells the men what to do, to go to their tilth and plant their seeds. This can only be done through the vagina.

The second source of prohibition of anal sex is the Prophet. Since Islam is based on belief, the Prophet’s saying is taking as fact, which some of the readers might find hard to understand. The Prophet is reported to have said, “Cursed is the one who approaches his wife in her rectum.” (Reported by Imam Ahmad, 2/479). Now, second after the Quraan comes the Sunnah, which is the sayings and practices of the Prophet. As, mentioned, the prophet has forbade any anal sex, whatsoever. Many reasons are references to the sunnah.
Let us look at it from a scientifically perspective. Ryan M. Kull, Columbia University Health and Related Services, explicitly points out, “The anus and rectum are more likely to transmit bacteria -- especially STD related -- than the vagina.” So, anal sex does really contribute to STD transmission in a highly percentage then vaginal. But, how so? Kull explains, “Feces coming into contact with the urethra (the tube you pee out of) puts you or your partner at risk for urinary tract infections (UTIs). Women are at greater risk for UTIs than men because their urethra is shorter, giving bacteria better access to the bladder.” He also points out one more important thing, the anus doesn’t have the “natural” lubrication that the vagina has. Interestingly enough, the vagina has a natural system that lubricates it during sex unlike the anus. Anal sex is also believed to cause hemorrhoids.
The second thing to look at is as health.discovery.com describe it, “The anus is the lowest part of the digestive tract, the opening from which stool is passed out of the body.” One thing only comes out from the anus; and it’s feces. It’s a disgusting thought to place your penis in and around feces. Some may actually find pleasure in doing this; all I can say is God help them.

This is what I came up with; however, it’s still up for discussion. I hope this gives the reader a little insight.

Remember, as I said, the Islamic sources that explain anal sex prohibition in Islam are from the Ahaddeeth* and the Quraan. There is not scientific explanation.

Defining some words for you.
• Harth: Tilth
• Haram: Forbidden
• Quraan: the Holy Book
• Ahadeeth, or hadeeth: practices and sayings of the Prophet.

Why does it bring absence to the idea that women is a property like property of land and you may do what you will of her?!? The idea put from "...tilth as ye will.". So why "...tilth as ye will." when there is one thing you can do according to your interpretation? I might be playing around semantics here, but seriously, it was the first thing that popped on my mind. Thought it would make it more interesting.:)

Kind of away from the anus thing tho, ain't it?

^ It's more of a metaphore than anything else. It just says that women are a place to sow seeds in, which is true. Through the vagina is the only way for a woman to get pregnant. It's never meant nor did it imply that women are property.

what the second part there is meaning, "...tilth as you well," is actually you can do anything with your wife as long as it's in the vagina. Whether it's from behind or from the front, the penis must penetrate the vagina, in all circumstances.

Att: Rukas and everyone Else.

Did that really need to be the title of this thread, like this is something concerning everyone on the board? I know I for one was losing sleep because the uncertainty of this anal intercourse problem in Islam, but how many here are like me? You might want to have given others an idea of what this was about.

'The anus doesn’t have the “natural” lubrication that the vagina has..' "Did you here that, Ma?"

^ I explained everything in the first paragraph. It shouldn't be that complex to understand what it was bout. The title is meant to get Rukas' attention first most importantly.

Actually, it's not very surprising. It's common. One reason, Islam is not just a religion; rather, it's a way of life. For every thing in life, Islam will have an answer for it.

Anyway, we were discussing why interest was prohibited in Islam. Then, Rukas had other questions regarding Islam. One was the above.

Exactly, Islam doesn't hold back on the topics it discusses. It's basically, if you're a Muslim and you're confused about a certain aspect in your life... You don't know if it's wrong or right... Islam will give you its point of view and its on you to agree or disagree.

I think its silly.

Islam allows oral sex, hand jobs, titty fucks, anything and everything, but anal sex? Seems weird to me, and slightly homophobic. The STD debate is irrational, if STDs are the only worry, does that mean anal sex with a condom is allowed? Not to mention the fact that STDs are transfered through vaginal sex as well, so that argument is silly.

For the record, I object to this thread making it seem like Im that concerned with anal sex, Im not, and have never done it. We went down the list of what was allowed and what wasnt and you couldnt answer (at first) if it was allowed and why not. Like I said, you informed me that oral sex is allowed (my first question), any form of touching any region sexually apart from the anal area.

At the end of the day I was curious, its not like I was asking permission or really care what Islam says I am allowed to do or am not allowed to do, Im not Muslim, and Catholicism gives me enough guilt trips as it is.

^ I never thought you would take it personal. Plus, I wanted to create a discussion. Seeing how WoW is dead, anyhow.

Anyway, I just wanted to clear things up. And true, STD is not transmitted through the anus only; it's transmitted through the vagina as well, but as stated, at a lower rate.

About using condoms, that's true. However, your comment about homophobia, Islam never allowed homosexuality and doesn't ever acknowledge it since the people of Lot [Lut]. So, there is no need for political-correctness here.

However, it's a commandment. There is no need for an explanation. You find it silly. I find it reasonable.

And for the record, I apologize if I offended you in anyway.

What's Islam's point of view on the new Ipod Nano?

^ Actually, well, if Ipod is used for Music then it's prohibited. However, if the Nano is used to listen to religious audio, then it's permissible.
