Yeah different needs.

Loving the Gingerbread ROMs out now. Minor things don't function but there are workarounds like USB mounting. Nandroids do fine if something goes wrong. But my God, the battery life is great.
 
Since Cyanogen himself is using a G2, it seems it will be the first phone to have a full working Gingerbread CyanogenMod ROM. You can already flash a preview of it, but I'll wait until everything is working. I have SetCPU set with profiles to overclock to 1.2GhZ and then gradually lower the speed with gradual decrease of battery life (at 80% it reduces to 1.1GhZ, at 50% it goes back to the stock 800MhZ). With CM6 running it's wicked fast even with loads of apps running.

S O F I, hows the NS? You can open up the bootloader to flash a custom recovery and ROM's just by typing "fastboot oem unlock" in the terminal emulator.

Anyone else get a new phone for Xmas?
 
i think that as great as it sounds, ill stick to the 800MHz on the G2 until i feel i want to push it more. i am always after a lengthy battery life so i'll underclock it for when the screen is off.

casey, what clock speed do you set your G2 to when the screen is off? on my G1 i have 19MHz.

With 0 3d score lmfao. Now I'm waiting for fully functional Android 2.2 for Spica since I'm still on 2.1 because 2.2 is still in alpha and Divx and a few sensors do not work well there yet.

Google have almost literally FUCK-ALL to do with that piece of shit he purchased. LG downloaded the code, built a ROM, made some hardware, flashed said ROM on said hardware. They signed a license deal for Google's own apps to be used on the device. That's the complete extent of Google's association with that device.

God fucking damn, don't post such retarded bullshit in here again. A child could see why that post is 100% idiotic.
 
I just had to install Kies as my cousin asked me to update her Galaxy S to FroYo.

God damn, this wack Samsung program sucks ass. I feel sorry for some of you guys using TouchWiz. If there ever was a reason to root, bypassing this garbage-ass proprietary software is a good one.

They don't have to use Kies though :P There are better alternatives. Everyone hates Kies. I never even installed it. However even Samsungs with no TouchWiz officially update through Kies. My Spica is a Google experience phone though the 2.1 update had a Samsung's shitty launcher pre-installed and some cool Samsung's apps like a file browser or a cool mp3 player.
 
Haven't done a lot of customisation yet, just rooted, sim-unlocked, Cyanogenized and overclocked, but here's what my homescreen is looking like right about now on my G2....

I'm using launcherpro at the moment so I just slide the bar across and 5 more apps i use show up so I don't use widgets or anything of the sort. On my other screens i have a couple widgets but nothing to crazy, news & weather, launcherpro fb, and launcherpro calendar, clean and simple.

Kies is a cunt. Hate it. Hate the Samsung Bloat. Didn't mind touchwiz.
 
What's so bad about Kies? does it take a long time or a lengthy procedure to get through to the update part?

ARon, thats pretty nice. i might try out launcherpro if cyanogenmod allows it instead of ADW launcher. i have never really bothered with the custom launchers yet tbh.
