Technology Android

I've had App Inventor for about a month now. Haven't really dug too deep into it though. I need to read through the tutorials a bit.

I keep it simple. Only thing I wish I had was the regular block of squares, maybe red ones, instead of the robot for the launcher, it's cool though. Sometimes I'll use space and planet backgrounds too

Sometimes I wish I never looked at tech stuff like I do cus at this rate I'm never going to get a new phone. How can I possibly consider buying something new when this type of shit is right around the corner, ridic

So I've been invited to a private HTC party next week, following their press conference (announcing the Desire Z/Desire HD aka the G2 and the Ace).

At this party, SOME of the attendees will be given free devices. I don't know on what criteria, whether it's first come, first served, or based upon your likelihood to promote the devices, or what.

It's really inconvenient timing for me, unfortunately. Right now I'm like 50% on whether I should go or not.

I'm just wondering if it's worth going if I don't manage to get a device. At the very least I'll be able to demo them which will be cool, but like I said the timing is super inconvenient.

We'll see. What do you guys think - should I go?

Yeah, things like these are usually cool. At least for me. Unless you really have better plans then I'd go if I were you.

I'm going to see if I can work a few connections I have to get to the actual press conference as well as the afterparty. Then it's more likely that I can walk away with something. We'll see though.

Casey, just tell them you'll use and promote their shit when you go on tour. They'll give it. lol.

I think you should check it out though, I don't know if you get invited to these events pretty often, but if it's the first time in a long time - you never know. Might as well try and see what it's about. Worse comes to worst, just leave earlier lol

Yeah, that's the standard line. Gotten free devices from T-Mobile and free clothes from PUMA and Adidas in the past just for saying that. lol.

The key is finding the right representative to talk to, who's open to those kind of deals and who can authorize it.

Yeah ADW Launcher is where it's at. It can be a little slow sometimes though. Launcher Pro is a popular one as well but they're not down with the ideals that is open source so f them. I'm not sure what the guys name is who designs ADW but he's a really good dev. Always on top of things, constantly updating and alll, easy to get a hold of if you have problems, runs a good site... go with ADW.

If you want full customization hit up XDA and get some themes installed

/\ Ander Webbs. Yeah - very good dev and a nice guy too. Like you said, he stays on top of everything.

I'm running stock Froyo, so I stick to that. I have seen multiple launchers incorporated into different ROMS, but never paid much attention to what each one was called. I know a lot of people that like LauncherPro.

Stock is fine for me for now. Maybe I'll get into them when I feel bored with it.

Is there picture comparo or something of all the major home replacement apps?

Tried LauncherPro... Then tried ADW Launcher on recommendation here... Going back to Launcher Pro.

Launcher Pro > ADW Launcher. It is quicker and looks better.

how long did it take to be granted access. ideally, it wouldve been better if i had been given access before uni started. i had 2 or 3 things in mind, very basic apps that i'd be happy with.
