give me free Wi-Fi everywhere in the goddamn fucking city. You know what I mean? The US has such pathetic wireless penetration.

Well, I'm lucky because everywhere I check there's at least 1 open wifi spot wherever I go. Even when I'm out of city center there are still people who don't secure their wifi routers.
All bigger shops and restaurants offer free wifi.

And no, I've never used gprs on my Android phone because it's extremely expensive here. Like 10c per 10kb's or so. I hate the pricing for gprs/wap. I even deleted on apns for gprs so it doesn't charge me since Android often connects to the net "by itself" which in fact charged me 20$ just for basic synchronizations soon after I bought it.

Droid X drops in a few days.

Also, a ton of Android phones are having trouble with a "50% without signal" issue that fucks battery life. LG, HTC, a ton of manufacturers are having issues with it. Android moving too fast? There aren't even fixes for it yet, despite it being out since March.

Seems like the array of new phones every two weeks keeps their minds off the issues with their own phones, especially when they aren't do for upgrades for over a year from now.

^It doesn't affect the battery life, just the battery meter. Also, it's very easy to fix. Just enter airplane mode for a minute, leave it and that's about it. Bug fixed.

plug your phone into the charger.

put your phone into airplane mode.

let the screen dim until it goes black.

unplug phone, and take it out of airplane more.

50% w/o signal is now gone.

Im going on a cruise in about a week. Is there a way i can stop Android from connecting to the internet (sending/receiving data) abroad?

i selected the option to prevent roaming when abroad, but dont know if it'll cease internet activity. Would APN Droid do the job? However, i might like to keep the phone on normal (not airplane mode) since i could perhaps still text or use a wi-fi connection.

Turning off roaming will be fine.

However, if you're really worried about it use APNdroid.

Droid X still doesn't have a physical keyboard. I'd probably just get droid 2....but with glitches, i'm holding on my black berry. I decided to just stick with it till the contract ends. 1 more year, then get out of At&T. Never had problems with them till recently.

i hate the idea of having to fix a bug, period.

i hardly see you on 4square. Get your medals up bro!

Haha, I honestly thought it was real until about halfway through. But good stuff.

Read that link for all the info on the DROID-X.

Also, FroYo (Android 2.2) source code was just dropped into the public repositories. That means Cyanogen and other developers will already be hard at work making 2.2 ROMS! I can't wait for some FroYo!!!
