^Intel Atom is probably the best netbook processor by now. Energy efficient and reasonably fast. This means that it'll be used in Android devices.
It just means there'll be more major players instead of just Qualcomm and Samsung.
However the new 1,5ghz Dual core Snapdragon will probably dominate high-performance Android devices.

Yeah, the EVO is a beast for sure. I said a few pages back when it first was announced that it's the only phone I'd give up my two main features (QWERTY keyboard and stock Android) for.

What is winning me over about the Evo (aside from the 4G network and amazing screen) is three things:

1. Additional front-facing camera for video chat. Win.
2. Out of the box it acts as a mobile data hotspot for up to 8 different devices. Epic win.
3. HDMI out. Fuck yeah.

One seriously sick device.

Yep, thats my only problem with it. I mean, you cant have everything but im not sure if i want such a huge thing as my cellphone.

Engadget have posted a very thorough review of the new HTC Incredible, and let's just say they are very pleased with it.

In fact, they summarized their review by saying:

Let's just put this out there: the Droid Incredible is the best Android device that you can purchase in America right now. It's better than the Droid, better than the Nexus One, and certainly beats the pants off of any previous generation handsets like the Eris, myTouch, or Cliq.

It's not just a very, very good Android phone (though it is); it's also an excellent smartphone no matter how you cut it.

Both my girlfriend and I are in desperate need of a new mobile and we were thinking of either getting two Motorola Backflips or two Dexts. Casey are they any good?

Both are technically very similar. Backflip is a bit more compact, Dext is 30g heavier.
Personally I don't like Backflip's design. It looks like an Iphone with full QWERTY. Also both have old Android 1.5.
Are you only considering these 2 phones? If Motorola then maybe Milestone which seems to be the best Android Motorola with full Qwerty and by far more awesome then those two you are thinking about. Or maybe some other brands?

Masta I don't think you can get the Milestone on Optus which is the carrier that Rukas is with.

Ruk if you can hold out a few more weeks you might want to wait for the Sony XPERIA X10 which is launching on Optus in early May. - Sony Ericsson Android-powered Xperia X10 to launch this month on all networks

If not, go with the Backflip IMO. It has slightly better spec and a better keyboard than the DEXT.

Both are currently running Android 1.5 but will be getting a 2.1 update in July.

If you're not locked in to Optus, Telstra have the HTC Desire which is one of the latest and greatest Android phones. I seem to remember you had some issues with Telstra before so maybe this is out of the question.

I personally quite like some things about the Backflip, but it is a mid-range phone and of course ideally you want a high-end. My advice, go to the a Optus store and see if you can play with the Backflip for 10 minutes or so and see how much you like it - might as well ask them about the XPERIA X10 while you're there.

masta and I are both obviously phonegeeks though, and I would wager that most people who have a Backflip or Dext, really enjoy them. The Motoblur interface is supposed to be very intuitive for social networking and such.
