NAPPY CITY
Many of us want to inspire people through our music but it’s so hard to get our music out there. You make your mix tapes, do shows, and blog on the internet, but there isn’t much progress. What other approaches can one take to make it?

Dude, you have to hustle. Hustle a hustler.
Are you using myspace? I don't believe that helps unless you have a huge fan base already.

You can try youtube...but first get the subscribers by making them laugh or saying crazy stuff that will get you noticed.

Maybe putting a link to your own music in your very sig and posting more often, logically will help you. Talking about hip-hop in this forum may help you know fans who will likely buy underground stuff. They will tell you how great/ sucky you sound.

Expand your horizons. Don't only do music. Make poetry, possibly learn how to break dance. Don't be one-dimensional. There are too many cats that are one dimensional.

Showcase your talent. Anyone can rap these days. I bet some people here can probably multi knock your ass out in a rap battle.

In simple terms, don't only use rap to get noticed, or you won't get noticed. Also, don't just rap, use a life story in your raps too.

Im no expert on this but id imagine getting your song played on the radio would be key.

Casey Rain might be the man to give you advise on this.

I’m talking about SHO ZOE. He’s a friend of mines and I’m trying to help him promote his music because I believe in him. I feel that anyone who is into HIP-HOP will like him, but getting him the exposure is pretty difficult. So I basically want all the advice I can get.

Make some original music. There's no point doing something thats been done before and done better. Once you have that, get a tight live set and get out there and play some shows. Put a product out independantly to make capital if you need to and use every tenuous contact you have to invite people to your live shows that can help you with a mutual benefit - ie a manager or booking agent that believes in your music and you can work out a deal with where they take a percentage cut. Build a fan base, through radio play, the internet and live shows. If you have good management they should be able to find you a good entertainment lawyer and they can work to getting you a deal with a major if that's what you're after. Stay focused, with enough drive anything is possible!
