I was wondering if anybody here regularly financially supported any charities?

And what are they?

Or if any of you have done any charity work?

No sorry man I am too busy getting my own life in order and paying my own bills to help others. As wrong as it may sound to some others but I would rather make sure my family and I are doing okay so I don't have to ask for a charity.

If i was able to help a charity I still would not. Charities often do not address the root of the problem. You can throw food into Africa for another 100 years and it still won't be enough. Either built up an infrastructure there and agriculture if possible in that desert or teach them to do something with which they can support themselves.

This all may sound cruel to some and is frowned upon by society but fuck it. I work very hard for every cent I earn.

I used to have a symbolic amount taken out of my account and given to Redd Barna ("Save the children"), a Norwegian charity organization that does work in development- and war-ridden countries. When I became a student I had to think about myself some more to survive.

Teaching and infrastucture is what most charities do.. the food thing is minor..

Anyway, yeah I donate to Safehouse in my local area

SOS Childrens Village. I sponsor a child.

Lame excuse + egoistic.

I've never really donated anything. I figure if i better myself with the $ I have, then maybe I will be able to help more financially in the future.

Also, the only 'charity work' I ever really did was when I was part of a hip-hop dance crew. We won a competition and got to decide where the money went. We decided for it to go to the ghetto hospital in National City for children with Cancer and Diseases.

Do you donate to any religious places... mosque etc??

I give £2 a month to Oxfam.

I've donated to that one...buying the animals...and the laptop for kids one.

I always donate to St. Jude and a local children's hospital and I volunteer at a hospital snuggling with the preemie babies

i had two different direct debits once, i donated £2 a month, one was save the children, and the other was nspcc. if i won the lottery i would get involved with philanthropy a lot more, not just because of helping people but because of the social aspect of meeting and working with different people who help others

On Thanksgiving I usually go and feed the homeless at this shelter. Im getting more of my friends to do it each year, there were like 10 of us this year. Dont really have money to give so I just volunteer when I can. It doesnt have to be for an organization either, playing basketball on weekends with all the little hoodlums in your neighborhood counts too.
