Has anyone here ever written a dissertation?

Im supposed to do one for college and i have no clue where to start.

has anyone got an example of one that they could upload for me? that would be greatly appreciated.

I've just started the ground work for mine recently, only done the research methods part though. Right now i'm reading through shitloads of journals and articles.

why would u want to start it earlier? Have you done all courses? If not I'd suggest u complete that stuff first before you start with it. It will help you to pick a topic and you'll have to write a couple of papers so you should know how to do one. I mean, how come you have no idea where to start? Haven't you written a bachelor thesis before or something?

Construction Management.

The reason im thinking about it so early is because we have to tell them what we are doing it on soon and show them how we are going to go about it and all that shit.

I searched for sample ones on google earlier. Very, very daunting.lol

No Menace, i was never required to do one in the other course i did.

Does your uni/college library not have old dissertations?

Dissertations vary a lot from subject to subject, so reading a psychology dissertation or a marketing dissertation probably wouldn't be much use.

Thats the best way to get started, it gives you a good base to see what the standard of your college dissertations are and to see what's expected of you (as dissertation content/expectations tend to vary from school to school)

good suggestion but like I said, I'm very very surprised (if not shoked) that you can go so far without ever havin written an own work about something. What kind of degree are you tryin to get? dissertation for me usually would be a phd ... so you had to go through bachelor and master program before you could start that. Doesn't seem 2 be what you are talkin about.

I have a degree already. I wasnt required to do a dissertation at any stage while studying for that degree. Now i am studying construction management. And for that degree im required to do a dissertation. Where are you from Menace?

I suppose it depends on the course you do. For example my sister studied law, but she was never required to do a dissertation at any stage.

and yea it is a dissertation and not a thesis. Thats what they told us we were doing.

I think we just have different ways of saying the same thing.

In the UK its called a dissertation which you normally do in your final year of your bachelors degree.. but it encompasses the 3/4 years of work you have already done

I know that it's different in different countries, that's why I was asking..... ya'all just didn't anwser.

So a bachelor degree. I dunno why you'd worry already cause of a dissertation for a bachelor degree, it should only take a couple of weeks 2 complete it. See you again in 2010.

lol I dont think its a bachelors he's doing...but I could be wrong.

My dissertation was 40'000 words and was basically 3/4 of my final year grade.. so if I spent 2 weeks on it I know I would have failed!
