They aren't really a cake, but are called cakes anyway, don't ask me why. The type I am talking about you will find in your local fish and chip shop, or on the menu at a local a la carte restaurant. Fishcakes are really easy to make. I love fish, and recommend my recipe to everyone.

For fishcakes you will need:

Boiled/steamed potatoes - as for mash.
Fish of your choice - I go with poached Atlantic Cod and Tuna steak.
Salt, pepper, little lemon juice, and parsley.

Cook everything as stated. put into a bowl, mash altogether, shape into cakes, breadcrumb and fry. batter if you wish = piece of cake! Here you have a perfect fishcake. I think of it as mash potato with fish, coated and fried. Simple. Fish as brain food.
 
I love fish but I don't like fish that's half-processed into some complicated and taste-mixed dish.

Fish should be baked as fish. :thumb:
