Anime is okay and all, but you can NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER hold it against someone if they don't know about it or can't distinguish anime characters because, simply, universally, it's just not cool. Yes there is some anime for kids, but 80% of all anime/manga is rated 15/18. Anime was created because Japan was mega poor and they couldnt afford to pay the huge costs of making a real movie, so they used cheaper techniques, ie animation to make the majority of action/scifi/fantasy based titles.

You live under some illusion that animation is for kids? Thats because you are narrow minded dumb ass Hick with no knowledge of what goes on outside your country, shit possibly not even what's happening outside of your state. If you weren't such an uneducated buffoon you would know that movie's started as animation only, there was no technology to record real life images at an animatable rate.
