stress leave from work????

if someone gets special treatment, everyone should get special treatment is all i'm saying.

This is not kindergarten where everything is made equal to be fair to everyone. LOL And since when is getting time off for a baby or an ill family member special treatment? I think if they had a choice they'd rather be working.

word up to linx. I'd only add that you shouldn't shun the possibility that the reasons they take work off are valid.

Meh. In response to everything without quotes.. (Hopefully I get this all right)

DVS: My dog's life >>>> random kid TO ME I understand others won't feel that way. But I do. :)

KeCo: Not about kindergarten and I understand life isn't going to work that way I just think it should. If one person gets time off for something important to them everyone should get time off. I got fired at a job for taking care of my gram while she was on hospice but someone has a baby and they get six months with pay?! Not to mention after the baby is born they can leave early, come in late, take days off, etc, etc all because of this kid? I think that's bullshit. I know that's not going to change but it doesn't mean I have to agree with the process.

Ray: Exactly, no one is special, everyone gets the same terms and conditions :thumb: Or at the very least men should get 6 months paternity leave alongside the maternity leave the woman gets.

Just my opinion.

well to me human life always goes before an animal's life. and it always will in any sensible employer's eyes as well. unless your boss supports PETA, chances are they wouldn't allow you time off work for a pet dog.

actually a lot of companies have started giving men paternity leave, probably to avoid getting sued for discrimination.

The difference is, a parent is legally responsible for their child and in the eyes of the law you don't owe your grandma shit. Thats why these policies exist. To be honest I think situations like the ones being discussed should be individually assesed to determine what is reasonable but that'll never happen.

I take time off to wash my car. Months sometimes. It can be stressful in the heat.

i've never heard of a stress leave before but i used to take a day off from work whenever i needed to cuz of school or plans i made or if i was sick...and that was definitely stress relieving :thumb:

linx this is where I see a problem

Even though you acknowledge that people are different you're still just thinking "if I can handle it, so can everyone else".

I'm not saying some people don't pussy out but I think if like you say you're the type of person to never be stressed then you don't really know what stress can do to a person. There's a different between short term stress (like when you see the words Lil Wayne) and long term stress (which actually influences you physically). Stress kills isn't just a fun slogan.

I see what you're saying. But i'm not really thinking "if I can handle it, so can everyone else". They are in a different department and they do different things. So there's probably different levels of stress between that department and mine. There's times where my job makes me wanna kick someone in the face, but I never let it bother me to an extreme. Not even close. There ARE people who need to take time off of work for valid reasons, but the people I see doing it just make me laugh. They're completely fine one day working and the next day they're out for 6 weeks to 3 months.

Nah, i'm really not. I work in a small place of under 100 people. So shit gets around. It's like high school, ya know? So if something happens with someones family or anything at work, people hear about it. There's been 1 person that's taken stress leave who I felt for, but even she extended it and milked it for wayyyy too fucking long.

Harsh but true. In America family isn't as important as self and the only familiar relationships that seem to matter are parent and child. I miss countries that focus moreso on family than being independently wealthy.
