Racism As A Huge Sign Of Ignorance

My post had "numerous grammar mistakes?" Really? Are you sure about that?

When I was referring to the way people talk, I was referring to people that say shit like, "Hand me them tomatoes." Something along those lines. I have never said that people that use curse words are more uneducated than people that don't. Curse words are pretty accepted now in society in informal situations. I curse all the fucking time and it doesn't make me an ounce less intelligent than someone who has never used the "F" word.

If you think that it's a bad idea for everyone to attend college, that's your prerogative. It's absolutely fine. However, I felt you made a terrible argument to support your view.

I spent a year and a half at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY before transferring to Plattsburgh State University and graduating in 2005.

Yes, I am sure about that, but once again you missed the point I was going after. The point is you should not curse or refer to anything as "retarded" while trying to engage in an intelligent conversation, especially in a conversation where you are arguing that vocabulary is a factor in intelligence.

Once again, you didn't refute anything I said. All that you did was tell me again how my argument was terrible, although you did not try to argue against it, nor did you explain what was terrible about my argument.

Damn, wtf? I thought everyone was hating Mexicans and Arabs?! It's Black ppl again??? [Eric Cartman voice] Got dammit!!!! [/Eric Cartman voice]

 I d.k. I'm not up to date on the hate...
*makes note*

Just watch the news, whoever is getting a lot of airtime is who we are pissed at as a country. This week, it's the heavy rains, next week... who knows? Maybe Jews? :(

ROFL i knew somebody was gonna take it seriously. Did u not see the little note at the bottom? That and to top it off i said fuck spicks all the while im mexican myself. LMAO funny shit!
hehe I was kidding to. I was referring to SiGH's double standard of banning dilla for using a certain N word as a joke and letting others get by with it.

But half of Americans can't find Iraq on a map much less talk about these things. And that's why people hold such ignorant and retarded views.

Ask American elementary school kids to locate Iraq on a map. I bet half or more will be able to do it. I think it's because that's what they learn in their basic geography class and the information is still fresh in their minds. The older you grow, you're more preoccupied with other facts you're trying to memorize. Besides, knowing the location of Iraq isn't going to make you smarter - being smart is to understand how todays Iraq came to be, what is happening now and what will happen. Many educated Americans are misinformed about Iraq - NOT just the "idiots". Maybe they are used to reading highlighted facts like they did in the textbooks - so they only read headlines.

PS. Please forgive my inability to smoothly put my intelligence in a written form. Thanks.

What authority do you have to dictate what people should and should not do? The fact of the matter is that this is a message board. People are free to state their opinions, ask for feedback, share their views and stories. When a member makes an argument, it is not like this is some professional presentation at one's place of employment, school, something on television, etc. There is less of a need to be formal. A lot of people curse when they talk, when they write.

This forum originally started as a 2pacboard. Were Tupac's arguments invalid and unintelligent because he used curse words?

Give me a break, man. You really need to get a dose of reality.

And from what I remember of your argument in your earlier post, you were arguing against my contention that everyone should have a college degree. You supported your argument with the claim that society needs people who work fast food, etc and such people would be unhappy if they held such a lowly job when holding a college degree.

I responded by saying something along the lines of "my post had nothing to do with people being happy at their jobs" - since you would like me to elaborate further, i will.

Plenty of fast food workers, sanitation workers, cashiers, what have you, are very unhappy with their jobs. Having a college degree would not make them any unhappier. Just because you have graduated from college doesn't mean that you are a motivated worker, a hard worker, punctual, ambitious, whatever. People have certain talents and flaws and those would clearly factor into employment.

There are plenty of people in America today who have college degrees and they have shitty jobs. I know several of them. There are people with college degrees who have no jobs at all.

Hence, this is why I believe that your argument was terrible.

We can even go further and discuss Capitalism and how it alienates people from their jobs and creates an environment of oppressed workers, many of whom hold favorable jobs and college degrees.

I'm just saying you sounded ignorant by saying that. Whether or not you are, I don't know. I'm just saying you sound like it when you talk like that.

I said college should not be mandatory.

No. What you did was say that one's vocabulary and racist tendencies are the biggest indicators to whether someone is stupid or uneducated. Thats fine, but when you go on to use a phrase like "pisses me the fuck off" you yourself sound uneducated. I'm not saying you are by any means, however, when you enter intellectual discussions you don't say things like pisses me the fuck off. He called you on it and rightly so.

Nope, because Tupac could intellectually defend himself when the time came. I don't see what this has to do with the thread though.

See, this doesn't really make any sense to me. How can you graduate from college and have no motivation, be a slacker, or have no ambition. If you don't have a work ethic in college you get eaten alive.

College should not be mandatory. The greatest thing about college/university is that its filled with people from all walks of life who WANT to learn. Those who are there to do nothing but party and fuck around soon get weeded out, which is the way it should be imo. As much as I loved high school for the social environment it was also probably the worst learning environment I've been in. You can't just take a handful of people who don't want to learn, stick them in a college classroom, have a professor get up and talk, and expect them to come out any more smart.

Ya thats not ignorant by any means.

College does not make people tolerant. Perfect example: neocons. Most of the are educated at the best schools and they are still racist as fuck, or maybe they just are willing to fuck everybody as long as they make $ or gain power. Anyways there is nothing inherent in the institution of college that enlightens people. It is the experience of getting exposed to all kinds to different cultures, religions, ideas, perspectives, etc that opens one's mind. Usually before college people only experience the diversity of their hometown, which most of the time is limited, and do not really learn much about the outside world, at least this is the case with most in the U.S. (I live in Cali just for clarification)

Good post. I can apply this to many people I've met in college.
