Official Euro 2008 thread.

Thing is, Cech has made those mistakes before. But its always when it doesnt matter I.E Tevez's goal for West Ham against Chelsea. Didnt matter Chelsea won 4-1. and most recently Babels goal for Liverpool againt Chelsea in the Champions League. Oh also he done it againt Arsenal when Gallas scored. He is known to make these mistakes.

yea i agree. He has made a few mistakes this season. Im thinking that the Stephen Hunt incident(when he fractured his skull) and that other incident involving Ben Haim(where he had to get over 50 stitches on his face) seems to have frightened him. He seems scared now, and seems to hesitate when coming for the ball, whether it be from a cross or when a player is running through on him. Perhaps he pictures a player running into him again every time he comes for the ball and loses concentration.I think i have said this before and Ronnie Whelan said the same on the match analysis here.I am kind of worried for him actually. Im also sad to see him make this mistake but Turkey were awesome in the 2nd half. They played some great football. Czech's second goal came about when Turkey were down a defender. At that point i thought Turkey would throw in the towel but instead they started playing even better. Nihat's(whom i would be criticising right now had Czech won) second goal was a brilliant finish.

I never really thought of the czech republic as more than an average team.Rosicky's and Nedved's creativity is a huge loss to them.

great second half.

Rafa should sign him. but he prob. doesnt know who he is.

slightly off topic but all these rumours about Chelsea preparing a 50 million bid for Torres are scaring me. Those yanks might well accept that kind of a bid. I would never watch the premiership again if Torres went to Chelsea.

what do you think on my point about Cech?

Those events may very well be lingering in the back of Cech's head.

and lol @ Chelsea-Torres. 'pool should tell Chelsea to "fuck off and do your own scouting".

Our line-up against Poland tomorrow.

It's pretty much the whole bench that will be starting.

I don't see the bench on the field.... HAHAHAHAHAHA I MADE A FUNNIE

The Cech point is probably right, thing is I was one of the only ones who never got the hype about Cech, yes hes a good keeper, but never did I think best in the world.

I haven't seen them. Will look them up to check.

Flipmo: pranjic right back? This is getting weirder every minute!

Don't ask. I'll just trust Bilic. Pranjic did well against Germany as a LB. I heard he was gonna change him, I'm happy he didnt. lol

I havent seen the game but apparantly Quaresma was very poor tonight.

Portugal dont have any decent striker. That could be their downfall.

Pranjic is purely left-footed...sure he can do well enough on LB, given enough space to put in some attacking runs, but on RB? :|

^^he can cut in and have a shot lol.

I know Cech has made a bad mistake tonight but if you look at the amount of time and space Altintop had to whip in the cross that led to the goal. Perhaps he should have been closed down quicker.

Yeah but to be fair, the whole team was poor (nani/Raul Meirles/Veloso/Postiga) Quaresma had limited service and was double marked for most of the game, he didnt seem interested though, nor did Portugal has a whole.

Indeed. The defense was too far down the pitch in the first place for that period of the game, conceding no space but being far too close to their own goal. And even then they didn't make an effort to prevent Altintop from passing in the box. Yeah, okay, Cech fumbled it. He should've punched, it was wet, maybe he should've simply come out earlier. But he saved a few nonetheless, did his job, made 1 critical mistake.

But let us not forget the Turks put 3 goals way, not just 1. Imo the Czechs were too late with closing down in the latter stage of the game. The Turks more than once encountered the first Czech resistance only yards away from that bulge on the top of the 16 (wtf is that in english anyway?), which basically invited trouble.

Brückner should've subbed Big Jan earlier. Kudos to that man for being still that important at his age. But he was too tired. You saw that when he missed that massive opportunity somewhere in the 2nd half. Big Jan was never a quick player anyway, but this was pathetic. Baros would've creamed that.

In the end, kudos to the Turks and their funny coach (his mannerisms make me giggle) for being, or at least trying, offensive-minded from the get-go. He played his best attacking players and even though they only picked the pace up in the second half it paid off in the end. Defensive I didn't think they were that bad. The two goals were more moments than stacked errors. Although Servet Cetin had big problems with Koller in the first half. Still wouldn't call their defense good, however. Altintop does his best but he's no RB imo. He could function that way in a better team, though. Their goalkeeper also did not impress me. Not to mention the fucking stupid red card he got himself.

Arda was good, if somewhat absent for some parts of the match. Sometimes he didn't work enough, and other times I saw him collecting the ball from the defense and pushing into midfield, when his obvious qualities lay on the flank. So far I have been slightly impressed by Turkey's new golden boy.

Terim is a top coach. Thats two games where he has made excellent switches when under pressure. It was a good move to switch Sabri and Altintop.

I dont think Volkan is a massive loss. He is known to be a headcase. Rustu is a more than adequate replacement.

Its called the box.

Fuck yeah, i knew something he didnt know.
