One of the smartest strikers in recent times, top scoring in Serie A, a good Champions League record, scored in finals scored in World Cup, Copa Libatadoras, Copa America....Do not compare Keane with Crespo in relation to wheter 20 million is too much. Goddamn..The only better finishers than Crespo in recent times is Inzaghi, Ronaldo and Ruud Van Nistelrooy.

Keane no where near comes close to the level of Crespo or Ruud. Not even in financial terms. Plus, he is almost unknown to people outside of UK, where as Crespo and Ruud have both played outside of UK and are well known.

i know you dont Thuggy. my post was aimed more at the other guy and i am pissed at some of the comments i have read over on goal.com. i do like Keane. i was probably ranting after one of Ireland's awful performances last year.

Barry was advised and convinced by his agent that moving to liverpool would be a step in the right direction for his career. It doesnt mean he cant get into the CL with villa and it doesnt mean he's lost his love for the club. That is why he is willing to move on and try his hand in the CL at this very time. he is ready for european football right now at 27 years of age, to test himself! (barry even said it himself).

Keane was a sub before defoe and a few others left, he wasnt getting a good run in the team a while back.

i am a fan of keane (both roy and robbie) i think roy was better than vieira.

and i think robbie has a great first touch and is a clinical finisher with an eye for goal.

now calm down and just admit that deep down you're mad and frustrated that you didnt get to sign barry and that you scouser liverpool fans wish you had owners like randy lerner who care about the welfare of the club, including the fans, players and everone associated with us. Not just about the money or how profitable they are because they are a premiership club.

Didnt Crespo score 3 goals or something in the last World Cup? He performed well had a better goal per game ratio than any other striker (Bar Klose). Probably wouldve scored more if Perkeman wasn't so cautious with his subs.

Hes scored in UEFA cup final (When the tournament was full of great teams). He really has achieved alot and has scored in big matches on a consistant basis. Look at Argentina, they now struggle to replace Crespo, even with the Messi's Tevez's Aguero's Palermo's they still cannot get any decent cover.

Also wtf at Sandeep saying Keane was a sub for Defoe...? Defoe left coz he hardly played for Spurs, Bent has been considered a flop because of Keane and Berbatov.
 
Yea he is good. i had forgotten about him at the last World Cup. i like Keane better as a player though. he is better to watch. he does some great things on the football field.

The Premiership has been ruined for quite some time. If people in England want to keep refering to the Premiership as the "Best league in the world" Then they have to realise these Foreign players are making it at.

Its nothing to do with a fancier name, Alonso has been class for Liverpool, one of the few players at Liverpool I actually like. Barry isn't proven at International level or European level.

okay last post before i go to sleep.

barry was never given the chance whilst sven was in charge. it was not his fault that selection for internationals was dominated by the so called "top four".

once he was given the chance under mclaren, barry showed just what he is capable of. he was englands best player for nearly all their matches in the euro 08 qualifiers - too bad they never qualified.

lampard is overrated in my opinion and he gets the first team place over barry just because he has become a bigger player by name just because he plays for chelsea.
