What you are talking about is the fact that certain plants have a natural reaction to damage or threat, but this is not a feeling or a thought, it is a survival mechanism built into its DNA (DNA does not equal life, nor feeling nor emotion nor though) just like a rose has thorns to stop being picked.

Look, I am not against eating something that is "living" I am against killing animals that have thoughts, feel fear, pain, suffering, sorrow, and who given a choice would not want to die. Plants are not able to make any sort of choice because they dont think.
To be honest, if we could grow meat, cloned somehow, in a lab, like, just a leg of ham, without it having a life, I would be cool with eating it. Like scientists grow spare parts for humans. Actually I think that will probably happen in the future anyway.
