is anyone interested? i know the tricks of the trade, i can run a smooth tournament.


i'm requesting a forum for text battling again, below the notepad, i'd like to mod it.

i know there's a few people here that used to battle, and anyone who enjoys writing and trying to diss people might be interested.


is anyone interested at all?
 
I dont think many people will really go for it. Although it would be fun, could liven up certain areas too.
 
Eh.. I already replied to your other post about it in the other topic. Again though, it's not a good idea. I know you used to do it here, but the whole text battle thing is old now. I did that years ago when it was cool, but it gets boring really fast.

It's not real fun when you only have a few people who are actually good at it running through everybody else. And at the same time, every one and their mother think they are the best. It just gets old.
 
Make a thread about it here, like, diss the person above you in a rhyme thread and if that goes well, then you'll have an argument to prove your point...

:laugh: ..Yeah, that will go well. I can't wait to see all the people in Our Block diss each other with rhymes and then eventually all compete in a tournament. :laugh:

Well, it obviously isn't going to start off with a bunch of interest. But trust me, text battling isn't old.

I'm not sure what the advertising rules of Streethop are, so i'm not going to mention any site names, but i know of at least 5 sites that accumulate up to 40 text battlers each weekly in their leagues. It really isn't old, it may be here, but it's extremely active elsewhere.

Also, i could possibly bring people here. Plus, i don't really know what it would hurt having the forum there, it's not like it would be forcing anyone to do it, and those who thought it might be fun to diss some people may want to sign up. I won't be a battler in it, i just want to set up the tournaments, write mags discussing who battled and reviews of the battles. I'll do all of this, all i need is a forum and moderator function.

i say give it to him. it's one of the best proposals from a streethop member in a while anyway. at least he's got a plan and he's got ambition, and if he could bring people here, not granting him what he asks for is biting your own ass.
 
i'm not tryin to say like the board is going to be flooded with people, and it'll probably take a little time to do.

but i know when i first joined PB, i had alot of fun writin lyrics, and the battles were usually the highlights.

but anyone who's interested, good or bad, if they wanna battle and just write some rhymes, then i'm sure they can have fun
 
I didn't really mean old as in nobody does it any more. Well, sorta. People do, but it's not as exciting as it was. I know there are still sites out there that do it. I went through that whole thing myself. I was doing it for a while on a few different websites. It gets boring because there isn't enough competition. And text battling its self got a little corny over time. Mainly because of the competition as already mentioned. When a bunch of people who do text battles get together, it's just a group of idiots. Every one thinks they are the best thing since sliced bread. Then you always have arguments about votes and all that bullshit. Like I said, i've been through it all before.

I'm not gonna lie though, I did enjoy all of that when I did it back then, It was a fun thing to be a part of. I participated in the tournaments and all that on different sites. I got bored with it eventually though.

A text battle tournament shouldn't be the way we get people to come to the site in my opinion. There's no reason you can't give it a try I guess, I was just giving my 2 cents. I just don't see it being very successful. I guess it all depends.
 
definitely, i hear you, and to be honest, i don't want to give off the misconception that i'm intending to run a tournament ONLY to bring people here.

i'm hoping some of the people here who aren't active battlers would like to participate, because how fun is dissing the people you bullshit with in Our Block? i'm not guaranteeing the text battle forum will be the best thing in the world, or even successful for that matter.

but again, what could it hurt?


i will mod it, set up a tournament with 16 battlers, and after every round after battles are voted on and closed will write up a mag reviewing all the battles and the best punchlines. i'll bring tutorials here, i'll do all sorts of things.

You're right. It won't hurt anything. Like my last post said in the other topic though.. the tournament can't be full of people that post on here. That will be more of a joke than anything. So I think you would HAVE to bring people on the website to do this. There might be a few people here that would be decent at it though. Not sure.
 
Alright, well, as soon as i set up a Sign Up thread we could see how much interest there was just from here alone. But i can definitely talk to a couple people.
