How often did you get neg repped?

you came into my heralded don't stop the music zone and feebly attempted to diss one of the greatest musicians of all time. i dont stand for that. you may as well go into "life" and diss 'Pac. see how many negs you get for that.
Dude not everyone can love Prince, all I stated was I don't give a fuck how good he is with a guitar, I still prefer Bob Marleys music over his. That's hardly a diss. Please remove his dick from your mouth.

his dick is not in my mouth, you sick depraved pervert.

i don't wish to know about what sexual practices you engage in with musicians you look up to, but i certainly do not participate in physical acts of love with anyone other than my wife.

whilst i respect your right to an opinion and preference, as a musician, songwriter and entertainer prince rogers nelson is far superior to robert nesta marley. and that was the topic of the thread in question which you soiled with your uninformed opinion and useless, unfounded negativity.

that is not open for discussion, it is a fact. marley succeeds over prince only in the areas of sociopolitical contributions through music, and iconic status, his untimely death being a big contributor to that (just like hendrix, cobain, curtis, joplin, holly, vicious and more).

i am not a man that considers record sales to be the be all and end all. but marley is in the category of "50 million+ records sold" whilst mr. prince rogers nelson is in the category of "100 million+ records sold".

so for all of bob's seemingly omniprescence stature
amongst every dope smoking rebellious teenager and twentysomething's bedroom and living room wall, it is not directly translating into sales.

maybe also consider that 90% of modern pop/r'n'b can be directly traced back to his purple badness (timbaland and the neptunes alone have spent their entire careers attempting to rip off his sound), whilst traditional roots-reggae has been eschewed by the current youth generation in favor of dancehall and has little to no relevance in todays musical climate. and i should know - i have been in the midst of the jamaican musical scene my whole life, living in handsworth - the epicentre of everything reggae in the UK. (and i've had conversations about the place of roots in todays music scene with everyone from steel pulse to ub40 to rita marley to frankie paul to buju banton).

roots became stale a long time ago because it never moved with the times. sizzla kalonji and damian marley are almost the only ones flying the flag for progressivity within the genre.

anyhoo, you prefer bob's music. more power to you.

But the thing is, Militant, that his dick is so firmly planted in the back of your throat that it's changed the way you think, seemingly. Last time we debated this you brought up that Bob Marley liked Prince, as if I'm supposed to like everything he liked and think the way he does. It only proves how this man has seduced you into mimicing his every thought to the point you think it's natural for others to do so. Let's leave it at that, everyone already sees you for the dickrider you are. no need to really talk about it even. And just so we're clear this isn't me hating on you, I even made a thread to shout you out when I heard your song in some FIFA game.
I don't really care about Princes influence on anyone, it doesn't really change the fact that to me his music is too girly for me to really enjoy, even though I do recognize that he's talented.
Lastly I wouldn't say Sizzla or Damian are really progressing roots at all, you'd have to look further underground for that.

I am far from a dickrider.

I am a music fan and this guy is easily the greatest black musician of the last 30 years, aside from whether you like his songs, his actual ability can't be contested.

Sizzla and Damian (Damian more so) ARE progressing roots in a mainstream sense and in the public consciousness. Just like any genre, there could be a million people making progressive underground music but if no-one's ever heard of them they will not make an impact.

and for the record, i never brought up the fact of bob liking prince in order for you to do the same, it was nothing more than the platform to launch an anecdote about the time the two of them met, if you recall.

Well if you think being heard mainstream=progression then you're right. In a musical sense though I don't think Damian has really done anything to progress the genre, and while sizzla used to be a driving force I think he's gone a bit stale in that sense, though he can still make amazing music. BTW it's pretty cool you live in handsworth, handsworth revolution was one of the best reggae albums of the 70's.

Damian appeals to a mainstream market and whilst there nothing massively original about his music, his image is right and he's making the right moves in order to seep into the public consciousness (ie. that track he just did with gwen stefani)

i think sizzla just made too many albums. dude has only been around since the mid 90's and has about 30 albums lmao. but i still think he is very progressive with his approach and style.

Handsworth Revolution is a stone cold reggae classic.

I know David Hinds (lead singer) very very well as he is a close friend of my cousin Simon (who has just mixed the audio for the new live Steel Pulse DVD that's coming out)

Also they commissioned him to make a dub version of their most recent album African Holocaust but I don't know how much has been done - last time I saw him he played me the dub versions he had done of 2 of the tracks , one that featured Damian on it and another one had Capleton on it (who is one of my all time favorite ragga artists btw)

That's dope I'll keep my eyes open for it. When you meet him again tell him their fans in Sweden are waiting for them to come back.

No worries. I don't know if he's in the country at the moment but I'm sure I'll catch up with him sooner or later.

Who the hell Neg reps? Lol...sooo stupid " I DONT AGREE" *NEG REP* "CHEA THAT MADE ME FEEL ALLLLOT BETTER"

Fuck off.

The most rep points I've gotten was when I told Eric to go to hell.

The rep system is a joke

The idea behind the rep system was to reward those who make quality posts and discourage idiots from posting stupid shit.

I think at some point if you are negged to shit you get banned. Not sure though.

Anyway, the system failed the minute it went up when people started to beg for reps and gave others rep only if they would get reps back in return.

Reps dont mean shit. Neg reps mean even less.

Its good to know when i get repped because i made fu of someone though because it tells me ppl found it funny.

PS. I dont see the fuss about Prince anyway. Listen man if someone doesnt like him and wants to express that view for whatever reason then so be it. And he is a weirdo like michael jackson.

Stop arguing over opinions and just agree to disagree.

I know what the idea behind the rep system is, I supported the initial introduction of it on this board, but even before that, I've seen similar systems get abused else where on the net. It never works. People with valid opinions get neg repped because some loser doesn't agree with it. Then one neg rep leads to another and that leads to some lame beef with a lamer posting up screencaps of his reps. That happens everywhere. It adds more clutter to the board in my opinion.

oh yea.. two reps for the Militant is a fucking moron post. :thumb:

I feel the love in here...

Lie. I have a print screen to prove it.

Who did I neg?
While were pointing out lies...take ur ass back in the "How YOU see others on the board" thread and tell the ppl what you really think. Ur worse than Sigh...pretending like everybody is your best buddy.

Why are you angry at the world? You cannot accept things at face value. You over-analyze everything I do (expects the comment *i dont care*). I called you a slut because it was funny and I edited it because you would go emo.

Back on subject...you neg repped me.

I wasn't talking about me. Why would I go emo...when you call me slut over the phone...when no1 is there to see the humor.
I'm not angry at the world...I just don't feel well and I wanna take it out on you.

Over-analyze...
Emo...
Sounds like someone I know...hint hint nudge nudge.
throw in judgemental and defensive...
*expects 12 paragraph rebuttal*

OH I don't remember negging you...but you probably deserved it.
