So i just downloaded the movie screener for American Gangster and im about to watch it. I will post up the review in a little bit or tomorrow. I always love it when a movie leaks before it even comes out in theatres and especially when it leaks in good quality. Ok I just read this doesnt come out in Australia until January. Fuck you studios! You see this, proof! I wasnt going to bootleg it, but considering the fact you're making me wait 3 more months than the US, fuck it, you lose.

i don't even get why they do it. here we are talking bout a world community and we can't have a worldwide release at the same time when we know this has happened before? i hate them. i bootleg the shit out of new movies because of this bullshit and i almost do it with pride.

About 90% of the time DVD screener end up being identical to the version that is released in theatres. It's the workprints that are always different compared to the released versions. So i pretty much believe this version is the same thats gonna be released. So get your leech on! :D

well i think what he meant was he wanted to see it in the theater (the way a movie is meant to be seen) as opposed to dling and watching it at home. but i'm gonna check this movie out tonight for sure.
 
Well if you did see the previous movies you prob wouldn't wanna download it like me, I just thought fuck it, might aswell, already seen a few reviews for it and none have been good so far.

I guess thats the way they leaked it. Im surprised we even got a dvd screener before the movie even came out in theatres so im not complaining about it being a little dark.

i thought it was pretty damn good myself. the acting is great, and it's not a glamourization of drugs or drug dealers like i thought it was going to be. this is probably the first movie about a drug dealer that really shows you what the product they are pushing really does to people, and it helps to counter Denzel's charm, so you don't get too comfortable with him as this cool bad ass. you see how he got rich by causing the death of hundreds and possibly thousands. great film.

edit: for anyone interested in learning more about the Real Frank Lucas, here's an intervieww with him from 2000, which was actually the catalyst for getting this movie made.

One of the smaller artsy theaters close to my campus had a secret screening of the film. This was 2-3 days ago. That could explain why it leaked so early. I'm thinking this theater wasn't the only one to show the film.

dvd screeners are not released to theaters. they are released to people that work with in the movie like the actors, directors, higher ups with in the company and to academy award boards to be considered for awards.

it is not uncommon for a movie to be screened in a theater weeks or even months before its release date. often when the studios do that it is a test screening to see how the audience liked it and sometimes the final release will be different becaue they made changes based on reactions from the test screenings
