Half of World's Languages May Become Extinct by 2100

Of the estimated 7,000 languages spoken in the world today, linguists say, nearly half are in danger of extinction and are likely to disappear in this century. In fact, they are now falling out of use at a rate of about one every two weeks.

(One every two weeks! Will english be next week's extinction casualty! )

haha... im thinking english will take over the world!... haha jk i really dont know. thats interesting though.

i've known this for a while. most of these languages are languages spoken by tribes that live in the jungle or in mountains. a lot of them are sub-languages to larger, more known languages and share many similarities with some differences. it's not as drastic as losing english if i can say that and retain my humanitarian ideas lol. i don't know how else to formulate that sentence, anyway, it's sad yeah.
