I need to get this off my chest.

YOU ARE NOT AUTHORITIES ON HIP HOP

I'm sick off people on the net posting shit like "<Insert Rapper Here> is shit" & "<Insert Rapper Here>'s rhyme are wack". I'm sorry but who the fuck made you a Rap god? If you know so much about rap, write a fucking album, have it sell fucking platinum and then fucking criticize. If you don't like an artist, fair enough, but that artist is not "Shit/Wack/Whatever critizism" because you say so, they are not facts, they are your opinions. If you are gonna write shit, write it fucking properly, don't fucking write "Kanye is a genius", you write "I think Kanye is a genius". Or don't write "Canibus sucks", you write "I think Canibus sucks".

50 Cent is a prime fucking example, i'm not a 50 fan/dick rider or whatever, personally I couldn't care less if no one purchased his albums, but I do care that when people say this shit, If 50 was shit, he wouldn't be a platinum fucking artist. And don't give me that "He only sells so many records because of the marketing" shit, regardless of how much marketing, if something is shit, people will not buy it, you would not buy something you wouldn't like would you? Exactly. And infact, I've seen no marketing for "Curtis" on TV here, there are probably 3 magazines that would advertise his albums and those magazines are published once a month, 50 Cent get no radio play in the UK other than on Hip Hop shows which air once a week, and he still makes the number 2 spot.

People, fucking sort it out. Please share your opinions freely, but don't make them out to be facts.

EDIT: Holy fuck, I just saw an advert for "Curtis", nearly 2 weeks after it came out.

Um, if someone says so and so is shit or so and so is awesome, that's clearly their opinion because their name is signed to their post. It's retarded to think you're going to get everyone to write "I think" before making a statement they feel strongly about. If you agree/disagree with someone, back up your opinion and try to refute theirs. You might turn them or they might turn you. Chances are, you'll both stick to your guns but expression is the main goal of this forum.

Opinions are the goal of this forum, but people try to pass them off as facts. I'm using "I think" as a variant, there are many ways you can share an opinion "I enjoyed", "I really didn't like" etc, when you put "BLAH BLAH IS WACK" then you are not sharing opinions, you are stating your opinions as facts. Words such as "Is" and "are" are verbs, verbs are words that "denotes an action, occurrence, or state of existence"

Do we really need another thread about 50 Cent?

Im not a hater of 50 Cent. I like Power Of The Dollar, i like all his pre aftermath stuff and i like Get Rich and Die Trying but what i do hate is these last two garbage records he has released.

I have listened to both so that does give me a right to express an opinion whether you like it or not. I guess the thing that annoys me most is the fact that these two records have sold so much. tbh, i think he has put little effort into them. Power of The Dollar and Get Rich and Die Trying proves that he has talent but i think it has gotten to the point where he feels he can get a few top producers on his album and a few big name guests and put out some half ass tripe and still make big money of it. I think he laughs at how much money he can make without much effort. I get that impression from listening to Curtis.

As for Kanye, i never liked his music. I just never saw what all the fuss is about. His music had little or no replay value for me. I bought College Dropout and Late Registration on their day of release.I haven't heard Graduation but "Stronger" annoys the fuck out of me. He is just an artist that i dont like or cant get into. I think he is very over-rated as a rapper and producer but he is creative and puts some effort into his work, therefore i respect him more.

I don't agree at all and I already stated my arguments in that 50 cent thread.

Knowledge about rap and talent to do it are totally different things.

On boards like this nothing is a fact. You should know that whatever you read it's just somebody's opinion, not a fact.
You can only decide to agree with that opinion or to disagree.

I know there are different points of view but there are few things that determine whether a rapper is good or wack and hip-hop wise neither 50 or Kanye is a good rapper - meaning "good" as good wordplay, words used, overall lyrical talent, voice and few other things

Thank you, this is the sort of stuff people should be posting, Bobby is discussing his views and opinions and validating his points as to why he has those views and opinions. By the way, this has nothing to do with any rapper in particular, they were just names that popped into my head.

"I think" is not a necessary thing to say because the fact that it has been posted by [xyz] should mean that everyone realizes that that statement is the opinion of [xyz].

It doesn't always work that way, but that's the principle I guess.
